A Guide to Alcoholic Beverages on Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Alcohol Policy rules

If you're planning on taking a cruise, a question you've probably had is, "What are the alcoholic beverage policies?" Each cruise line has their own, so it's important to do research that pertains to the specific line you're considering or booked on.

Here's what you need to know about Disney Cruise Line and alcoholic beverages, from bringing your own onboard to unique offerings only available on select ships.

What is the drinking age?

If the voyage departing from the United States (i.e., Florida, New York, Alaska, Texas, etc.) , all guests must be 21+ to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages.

If the cruise is departing from a European country where the drinking age is less than 21, parents or guardians may sign a Beverage Consent Form that would allow their 18, 19, or 20-year-old children to drink alcohol while in their presence.

Bringing alcohol onboard

To save money, it is economical to bring onboard beverages, so it is important to know limitations in order to avoid losing money on beverages purchased prior to embarkation.

Guests 21+ may bring either 2 bottles of wine or champagne or 6 beers (12 ounces or less) onboard. Any beverages brought onboard must be in the carry-on luggage, and not checked luggage, and all alcohol brought onboard must be in an original unopened container.

If any alcohol is packed in checked baggage, the cruise line says it will be removed and stored until the end of the cruise. Moreover, checked luggage that contains alcohol will likely be delayed in getting delivered to your stateroom.

Beverages brought onboard may not be consumed in any lounge or public area. However, guests are able to bring their beverages to the main dining rooms, provided they pay a corkage fee of $26 per bottle.

You are also able to purchase alcohol in ports of call. That being said any liquors, spirits, or excess wine and beer will be stored until the end of the cruise. If you don't retrieve them upon disembarkation, they will be discarded, and they will no provided any compensation.

Disney Wish – Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge

If you're sailing on the new Disney Wish and looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience and willing to shell out $5,000 for a cocktail, head over to the Hyperspace Lounge and order the Kaiburr Crystal.

The beverage is served in a camtono (think cylindrical container) that dispenses smoke when it opens. Inside, you'll find concoctions made with some of the most expensive liquors known to man.
