A cruise passenger won a hefty lawsuit against Carnival Corporation & plc., with a jury finding the Florida-based company negligent for over-serving alcohol and liable for subsequent injuries. 

Diana Sanders, a 45-year-old nurse from California, initially filed a lawsuit against the company in November 2024 after she was given over a dozen shots of tequila in a roughly eight-and-a-half-hour period, The Miami Herald reported. 

Carnival is one of the most well-known cruise lines at sea. However, many other lines operate under its parent company's umbrella. 

Carnival Cruise Line is owned by Carnival Corporation & plc, which is the world's largest cruise operator, with more than seven distinct brands and 90 ships sailing worldwide. 

The most popular lines include Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, and Holland America Line. That said, its portfolio encompasses everything from luxury expedition vessels to regionally focused brands in Europe. 

Although Carnival is one of the most well-known cruise lines at sea, it wasn't until I was in my mid-20s that I finally decided to sail on a "FUN" ship to see how the experience compared to the familiar, activity-packed, and entertainment-driven atmosphere I had come to love aboard Royal Caribbean. 

Carnival Cruise Line officially raised its daily gratuity rate for the first time since 2023. 

Carnival announced the changes in February 2026, giving passengers around two months to lock in the current rate and pre-pay their tips. 

For those who didn't, the new, higher gratuity rates now automatically apply, whether the tips are settled in advance or added to the Sail & Sign account on board.

Although Carnival Cruise Line is known for its fun-filled vacations and laid-back atmosphere, it teased passengers with what appeared to be a sudden letter banning duck hunting aboard its ships. The notice, printed on official Carnival letterhead and signed by the cruise line's president, has circulated widely on social media.

The Iran war is doing more than fueling anxiety around global politics — it is also disrupting travel, with thousands of flight delays and cancellations, and cruise vacations abruptly ended before they even began. 

At the same time, the conflict is driving up oil prices. The cost of Brent oil, the global benchmark, reached $107.81 per barrel on March 27, up sharply from $71.24 just one month earlier, according to Fortune. 

A passenger injured while sailing on the Carnival Glory cruise ship filed a maritime personal injury lawsuit seeking damages for extensive medical expenses and loss of cruise experience.

Angely Hope Roper, 80, of Georgia, was a fare-paying guest vacationing aboard Carnival Glory when she slipped and fell in the ship's main dining room in May 2025, as reported by Holzberg Legal.

Carnival canceled all visits to a popular fjord for the entirety of the 2026 Alaska cruise season. 

The cruise line notified passengers via email that all visits to the Tracy Arm Fjord have been removed from the 2026 lineup due to unsuitable "geological conditions." 

"We have been closely monitoring geological conditions in Tracy Arm Fjord. The waterways in the area are currently not suitable for cruise ship navigation," the email reads.
