Carnival Cruise

11 things I wish I knew before my first Carnival cruise

Having sailed on over a dozen cruises, I would not consider myself a novice cruiser. If you were to ask me about anything about a Royal Caribbean ship, I'd probably know the answer.

Just a few weeks ago, however, Carnival felt like a foreign language to me. I had never stepped foot on a Carnival ship prior to my recent sailing onboard Carnival Celebration, and I was not quite sure what to expect.

I took my first solo cruise on Carnival Cruise Line. After 7 nights, here are the pros and cons of cruising alone

After three solo cruises onboard Royal Caribbean and MSC ships, I took my first solo cruise on Carnival Cruise Line and spent 7-nights onboard Carnival Celebration traveling to Amber Cove, San Juan, and St. Maarten.

Not only was this my first solo cruise with Carnival, but it was also my first-ever Carnival cruise, so I truly had no idea what to expect. While I was worried that I would find the party-like environment overwhelming as a solo cruiser, I ended up loving every second of my trip!

11 things I wish I had done differently on my first Carnival cruise

I had so much fun on my first-ever Carnival cruise that I am already looking forward to my next sailing onboard Carnival Vista.

Since this was my first time on a new-to-me cruise line, it was certainly a learning experience. There are some things I wish I had done a little bit differently to make my vacation even better, but I am glad I can use this experience for future Carnival sailings.

15 things I loved and hated about my first Carnival cruise

After fourteen cruises onboard Royal Caribbean, Disney Cruise Line, and MSC Cruises, I decided it was finally time to try Carnival!

I recently sailed onboard Carnival Celebration, their newest ship at sea that launched in 2022, and had a wonderful vacation. I am already looking forward to my next cruise onboard Carnival Vista.

As with any trip, though, there were things that I thoroughly enjoyed and a few things I wish I could have changed; no vacation can ever be perfect.

Here are 15 things I loved and hated about my first Carnival cruise.

I took my first Carnival cruise on its newest ship. Here are my honest thoughts

As someone who grew up sailing with Royal Caribbean and Disney Cruise Line, I was hesitant to book a cruise with Carnival Cruise Line. The party atmosphere of the cruise line never appealed to me, even throughout my early 20s.

Recently, however, I decided to sail onboard Carnival Celebration, the newest ship in their fleet, to finally see what the most fun ships at sea were truly like.

How much does a Carnival cruise ship cost to build?

If you want to sail on today's newest cruise ships, you will have to be willing to accept the larger price tag. That's because these ships are larger and more technologically advanced than ever, meaning that they cost the cruise line a lot more to build. They really are like floating cities at sea!

I stayed in a windowless cabin onboard Carnival Celebration that cost $1,900 — here's what my inside stateroom looked like

I recently sailed on my first-ever Carnival cruise onboard their newest ship at sea, Carnival Celebration, and stayed in an interior room that cost $1,900 for 7-nights.

Before you are ready to place the deposit on your Carnival cruise, you will have to choose what cabin category you’d like to stay in for the duration of your voyage.

While the majority of the fun will be located outside of your stateroom, you still want a comfortable “home away from home” that you can return to each evening and rest for the next day’s adventure.

Guide to staying in a Carnival cruise balcony cabin

If you’re looking to book a Carnival cruise in the near future, you might be questioning which type of cabin is the best choice for you. Once you are ready to put down a deposit on an itinerary, you will have to select a stateroom category and location.

Balcony staterooms have become increasingly more popular throughout the last decade. Many cruise lines, including Carnival Cruise Line, are building more balconies on new ships than ever before.

I sailed on the oldest and smallest Carnival and Royal Caribbean ships. Here's how it went

Modern cruise ships are built to be bigger and better than ever before. By today’s standards, cruise ships are essentially floating resorts, holding upwards of 10,000 people onboard, including crew.

In fact, the top decks of the newest cruise ships look like amusement parks with water slides, roller coasters, and go-karts! It’s easy to forget that you’re sailing on a cruise ship onboard these mega-ships because there are so many attractions and onboard thrills.
