Disney Cruise Line and The Canaveral Port Authority agreed on a new 20-year agreement that will expand operations and make Port Canaveral home for two of Disney’s three new ships.

The new pact provides a 20-year primary term with two additional five-year renewals. Initially, the call guarantee remains at 150 calls, but increases to 180 calls in 2023 and up to 216 calls in 2024 through the remainder of the 20-year term. It will go into effect on June 1 and replaces an existing marine terminal agreement that was set to expire December 31, 2027.

Disney Cruise Line has purchased land on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas to build a new private property.

Disney Cruise Line announces it will return to Greece in 2020, as part of its 2020 sailings release.

After a five-year hiatus, the Disney Magic will be returning to the Greek Islands with 9- and a 12-night voyages from Civitavecchia.

DCL will offer five new ports in Europe in its 2020 European season, along with sailings to Alaska, the Caribbean and the Bahamas.

Guests will be able to begin booking these sailings on March 7, 2019.

Disney Cruise Line announced the return of two of its most popular themed cruises, Star Wars Day at Sea and Marvel Day at Sea. 

Offered on the Disney Fantasy and Disney Magic, these seven and five-night sailings combine a Disney Cruise Line vacation with unique character encounters, live shows and action-packed entertainment.

Star Wars Day at Sea

Select seven-night Disney Fantasy sailings from Port Canaveral, Florida between January to March 2020 will offer Star Wars Day at Sea sailings. 

The Port of Galveston and Disney Cruise Line extended their preferential berthing agreement for another 10 years, with the option to renew for two additional five-year periods.

The extension includes plans for a a shared cruise terminal that would be large enough to handle a ship equal to, or larger than, ships the size of the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.

Effective January 19, 2019, Disney Cruise Line will raise its recommended gratuity guidelines. The new recommended gratuity rate is $13.50 per passenger/per day based.

“The recommended increase is $0.50 per passenger/per day for the Dining Room Service Team and Stateroom Host/Hostess. The total recommended gratuity is $13.50 per passenger/per day based. Total gratuity is based on the length of the cruise.”

The exact timing of when the change goes into effect depends on the exact sailing and ship.
