MSC Cruises announces it will build four new luxury cruise ships from 2023-2026

MSC Cruises announced the signing of the final contracts with Fincantieri to build four brand new luxury cruise ships, to be delivered between 2023 and 2026.

All four vessels will have gross tonnage of approximately 64,000 GT and will feature the latest maritime and environmental technologies available. Each equipped with 481 guest suites, they will also showcase a highly-innovative design and introduce ground-breaking options for guest comfort and relaxation. 

MSC Bellissima makes maiden call to Valencia, Spain

MSC Bellissima made her inaugural visit to Valencia, Spain on Monday.

To commemorate the event, a special event was held with represenatives from MSC along with municipal and port authorities.  The event was attended by the president of MSC Cruises in Spain, Emiliano González, Francisco Lorente, president of MSC Cruises Spain and invited personalities such as Francisco Romeu, Grup Romeu or Jaime Matas, Deputy General Director of the Bank Sabadell, among others.

MSC Cruises launches MSC Bellissima

MSC Cruises took delivery of MSC Bellissima from Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard.

MSC Bellissima’s Delivery Ceremony took place in the presence of Gianluigi Aponte, MSC Group’s Founder and Executive Chairman. Also present were Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman, MSC Cruises, Laurent Castaing, General Manager, Chantiers de l’Atlantique, as well as other regional and local authorities and dignitaries. 

MSC Bellissima will expand onboard shopping experience

MSC Cruises announced it will expand the shopping experience on MSC Bellissima.  The ship has plans for a Mediterranean-style promenade and the adjustment of the shopping experience to fit different markets. 

Over 8,000 square feet of retail shopping space will be offered across 315-foot-long promenade on the new ship.

MSC Bellissima nearly ready for maiden voyage

The first of two new cruise ships for MSC Cruises is expected to be ready to launch soon.

The Meraviglia-class MSC Bellissima's first sailing will take place in March.  Before that can happen, the ship will depart the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France for Southampton for her naming ceremony on March 2.

The ship will be the largest ever to be launched at the port marking a historic moment for the cruise line and port.

The Bellissima's naming ceremony will be hosted by Holly Willoughby, of UK television show This Morning.

Cruise ship passengers robbed in Antigua

Two French tourists visiting on a cruise vacation were robbed while in Antigua.

According to the Antigua Observer, 70-year-old Jacques Colbert and 62-year-old Christiane Marcelle Drouth had arrived on an MSC Cruises vessel and were sightseeing in Hatton when the alleged crime occurred around 11 a.m. on February 1.

MSC Cruises introduces first virtual personal cruise assistant

MSC Cruises introduced ZOE to the public, which the cruise line touts as the world's first virtual personal cruise assistant powered by artificial intelligence.

MSC designed ZOE for its cruise guests in a partnership with HARMAN and Samsung Electronics. 

Ken Muskat returns to MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises announced former executive Ken Muskat is returning to the cruise line as its new EVP Chief Operating Officer for the U.S. market.

Muskat previously served two years as CEO of China-based SkySea Cruise Line.

In this role, Muskat will report to Roberto Fusaro, President, North America, and will manage directly all travel trade-facing functions as well as Hotel Operations, Contact Center, Revenue Management, Marketing and Communications. 

MSC Cruises announces MSC Bellissima launch details

MSC Cruises published details on what it has planned for the upcoming launch of the MSC Bellissima in Southampton on March 2.

TV presenter Holly Willoughby will host the naming ceremony of MSC Bellissima, with Craig David and Nile Rogers and his band Chic providing the music.

Sophia Loren will perform the traditional ribbon-cutting at the ceremony. Loren has acted as MSC Cruises' godmother for all MSC ships since 2003.

A gala dinner will take place onboard MSC Bellissima, followed by live music from UK singer Leee John.

MSC Cruises reveals new Caribbean private island details

MSC Cruises unveiled details surrounding its private island that will open on November 9, 2019.
