Carnival's next mega ship begins sea trials

Carnival Cruise Line's next giant cruise ship has begun her first set of sailings aimed at testing the ship's seaworthiness.

The Mardi Gras departed the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland on Monday morning to spend the next 10 days at sea.

Once her sea trials are complete, she will return to the dock for final preparations for its departure for the U.S.

Mardi Gras will be the first ship powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in North America.

Carnival Cruise Line has confirmed it will sell Carnival Fascination and Carnival Imagination, both of which have been in long-term layup during the ongoing suspension of North American cruising.

Carnival will sell five more cruise ships

Carnival Corporation announced on Tuesday it will sell off an additional five cruise ships.

The ships to be sold are in addition to the 13 ships the company previously announced.

In a new business update for shareholders, Carnival Corporation made the announcement that it would sell the ships that were already planned to be sold in the future.

Carnival's next cruise ship will be named Carnival Celebration

Carnival Cruise Line announced on Friday that the name of its Excel-class cruise ship that will debut in 2022 will be called Carnival Celebration.

When the Carnival Celebration debuts, she will sail from PortMiami in November 2022.

Carnival hacked by ransomware attack

Carnival Corporation announced it was the victim of a ransomware attack that may have resulted in guest and employee information being compromised.

The ransomware attack occurred on August 15 and the incident was noted in a SEC financial filing.  The SEC filing didn’t say how many people’s personal information may have been accessed, and spokesman Roger Frizzell said in an email that the company wasn’t releasing any information other than what was in the securities filing.

Carnival Cruise Line tests new cruise ship roller coaster

Carnival Cruise Line has released a new video of a test of its new roller coaster concept that will be added to a cruise ship soon.

Known as the BOLT, the new roller coaster will debut on the Carnival Mardi Gras in February.

The test was conducted at the roller coaster manufacturer in Munich, Germany. Mauer Rides tested out the new roller coaster, which will offer guests almost 800 feet of suspended track at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour.

Carnival says goodbye to two cruise ships

Carnival Cruise Line honored two ships that were recently sold by sharing fond memories from the cruise line staff.

Last week, Carnival confirmed the Carnival Fantasy and Carnival Inspiration were sold to a scrapyard and in an effort to commemorate the ships' legacy, Carnival shared memories from Carnival executives and staff.
