Five cruise passengers were arrested in Nassau, Bahamas, after getting into a violent altercation at the cruise port on Monday, June 8, police said.

Cruise passengers who sailed aboard the MV Hondius are currently quarantining worldwide to prevent the spread of the deadly hantavirus. 

As of Tuesday morning, nearly a dozen hantavirus cases have been confirmed, as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO). Global health officials have warned that the number could continue to rise. However, the risk to the general public is low at this time since transmission is rare and is typically limited to close-contact settings. 

While public concern about the ongoing hantavirus outbreak continues to grow, one cruise passenger turned to social media to offer a firsthand update on conditions aboard the ship. 

Jake Rosmarin, a travel content creator based in Boston, Massachusetts, has shared videos and posts documenting daily life during the voyage. 

Most recently, he posted another update, saying the remaining passengers on the ship are doing well and in good spirits. 

Two passengers who sailed aboard the hantavirus-hit MV Hondius have returned home to the United States and are being actively monitored by health officials. 

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH), the individuals are in good health and aren't showing any signs of infection. They're also adhering to the latest recommendations provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), CBS News reported. 

Three people were medically evacuated from the cruise ship at the epicenter of the ongoing hantavirus outbreak, which has already caused three deaths. 

Hantavirus is a rare, rodent-borne illness that is mostly transmitted through the inhalation of contaminated droppings, saliva, or urine.

A suspected outbreak of the rare hantavirus infection killed three people on a cruise ship traveling from Argentina to Cape Verde in the Atlantic Ocean, the World Health Organization (WHO) said. 

A small cruise ship hit a reef near an uninhabited Fiji island over the weekend, the same island that was once the setting for "Cast Away," starring Tom Hanks. 

The ship, the MV Fiji Princess, ran aground near Monuriki Island on Saturday and suffered serious damage to its rear left side, the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) said in a statement posted to social media. 

A cruise ship crew member was arrested and deported after being caught shoplifting in Port Canaveral, Florida, authorities confirmed. 

"CBP Port Canaveral was contacted by Brevard County Sheriff's Office, Florida (Official) Deputies regarding a detainer placed on crewmember [who] was caught shoplifting during shore leave," the official Miami and Tampa Field Office Facebook page said on March 24.
