Guests on at least two cruise ships have had their itineraries altered ahead of Hurricane Flossie's arrival off Mexico's Pacific coast.

Because of the storm's predicted path, passengers aboard Carnival Panorama were informed that they'd have to skip their second day in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on Wednesday, July 2.

"We continue to monitor the forecast for Flossie, which has now strengthened to a hurricane," Cruise Director Andy told guests over the public intercom system on Monday, June 30, "Storm conditions are expected to impact Cabo San Lucas on Wednesday, July the 2nd, and the port will be closed."

Carnival Panorama departed from Long Beach, California, on June 29 on a 6-night voyage to the Mexican Riviera, with an overnight call at Cabo as its first scheduled port.

Thankfully, Hurricane Flossie isn't impacting guests' entire visit to Cabo San Lucas. According to Andy, only the second day of the overnight stop will be affected. No changes have been announced to Carnival Panorama's visit to Ensenada, Mexico, on Friday, July 4, either.

"To give you additional time ashore, we will now arrive at 8:00am, two hours earlier than previously scheduled," he continued.

"Thank you for your understanding. We're all here to make sure we have a good, safe, fun, and memorable cruise...We [have] lots of fun onboard for you."

Passengers aboard Carnival Firenze's 5-night cruise departing on July 1 are also missing their scheduled stop in Cabo San Lucas. MurkyTrainer7953 shared the news on the r/Cruise Reddit thread, writing, "Cabo Cancelled - Tropical Storm Flossie."

Carnival Firenze was supposed to call at Cabo on July 3. Guests will now have an extra day in Ensenada, Mexico.

The intensifying hurricane is forecast to continue strengthening over the next few days. Although it's not predicted to make landfall, its outer bands will bring heavy rain and strong winds to several Mexican states.

As of 6:00am CST on Tuesday morning, Hurricane Flossie was a Category 1 storm with maximum sustained winds of 90mph. It's moving west-northwest at 10mph.

3 other cruise ships are scheduled to call at Cabo San Lucas through Sunday

According to Cruise Mapper, Royal Caribbean's Ovation of the Seas and Navigator of the Seas, as well as Oceania Cruises' Oceania Insignia, are expected to visit Cabo on Sunday, July 6.

Cruise lines are continuing to monitor Hurricane Flossie’s forecast and are prepared to make adjustments to future itineraries to keep guests and crew members safe.

Passengers with upcoming sailings should remain flexible as safety remains the top priority. Any changes to their itinerary will be communicated by the cruise line.
