Five cruise passengers were arrested in Nassau, Bahamas, after getting into a violent altercation at the cruise port on Monday, June 8, police said.

According to the Nassau Guardian, local officers responded to reports about a fight at the Nassau cruise port around 4:45 p.m. Upon arrival, they arrested five cruise guests — three women and two men — and escorted them to the police station.

The fighting didn't stop after they were detained. Instead, local reports say that they continued brawling at the police station, going as far as injuring four officers and damaging police property.

"One female suspect allegedly threw a chair through a southern glass door, causing it to shatter. A male suspect then allegedly kicked out the remaining glass and attempted to escape, but was immediately subdued by officers. Additional police units were requested to assist in restoring order," police said

"The five suspects sustained minor injuries during the initial altercation at the Cruise Port and were examined and treated by Emergency Medical Services personnel. As a result of the confrontation at the police station, several officers’ uniforms were damaged, and four officers sustained various injuries."

Records indicate that two police officers were reportedly struck on their bodies, while another suffered a laceration to their mouth. The fourth police officer sustained a serious injury to his left shoulder and was transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance.

Although the police report doesn't state which ship(s) the passengers were sailing on, six vessels were in port on Monday, according to CruiseMapper:

  • Oasis of the Seas
  • Allure of the Seas
  • Mardi Gras
  • Carnival Celebration
  • Caribbean Princess
  • Disney Fantasy

Since the police report does not indicate which vessels the detainees were on, it is unclear whether they were traveling aboard the same ship or if they met each other while in port.

However, it says that they were unable to take official statements from the complaints due to the "cruise ship's scheduled departure," indicating that the passengers may have been traveling aboard one vessel.

Five of the six ships were on round-trip sailings from Florida, with Oasis of the Seas coming from Cape Bayonne, New Jersey.
