If you've never considered a cruise, now is the best time! With the cost of basic necessities increasing, it's no surprise that people want to feel they're getting the most value out of their vacations. Even if you cannot drop thousands of dollars on a summer trip, there are ways to maximize your experience without breaking the break. 

Loyalty can go a long way in the cruising industry. The more you choose to travel with the same cruise line, the more you will be rewarded for doing so.

Cruise lines have loyalty programs to encourage travelers to continue traveling with the same brand or company. Repeat customers are an important component of a cruise line’s clientele. As such, many cruisers find themselves continuing to travel with the same cruise line to reap the benefits of loyalty programs.

Drink packages are one of the most popular cruise add-ons. Except when sailing on luxury lines like Explora Journeys or Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the selection of beverages included in your base fare is limited. After sailing primarily with Royal Caribbean, I decided to take the plunge and book a Carnival cruise last October on Carnival Celebration, the newest Excel Class ship (at the time). Since then, I've explored three other ship classes within the fleet: Vista, Conquest, and Fantasy. 

While I don't foresee myself booking another sailing on a Fantasy Class ship, the cruise experience is what you make of it, and each class offers its own unique charm and amenities. 

Cruising continues to be one of the most affordable ways to travel, even as costs continue to rise. With an influx in cruising demand, cruise fares have been steadily on the rise over the last few years.

As a budget traveler, I am repeatedly looking for ways to save money when traveling. The more money I can save while traveling, the better. With these savings, I am able to both cruise and travel more frequently.

While the food is often one of the most anticipated aspects of a cruise, you don't have to eat until you feel ill. I'm for all indulging on vacation; however, balancing enjoyment with moderation is important. 

Some of the newest ships at sea have more dining options onboard than before. Icon of the Seas, for example, has 27 different venues to choose from, ranging from the fast-casual El Loco Fresh to the opulent Empire Supper Club.

Cruise ships are famous for the endless food choices onboard, but it’s hard to beat the convenience of a cruise ship buffet. My most recent cruise, however, left me questioning whether the convenience was worth the chaos.

Despite the latest and greatest ships offering nearly a dozen dining options, from the traditional main dining room to innovative food halls, many passengers—including myself—still prefer the laid-back atmosphere of a buffet.
