Celebrity Cruises drink packages: What to know before you buy

Celebrity-drink-package-hero

Drink packages are one of the most popular cruise add-ons. Except when sailing on luxury lines like Explora Journeys or Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the selection of beverages included in your base fare is limited. If you prefer a wider variety of drinks, purchasing a drink package could be a worthwhile investment, as you can indulge in anything from top-shelf spirits to specialty coffees, soda, and more.

Though an upscale line, Celebrity Cruises isn't an all-inclusive cruise line. Those seeking a more inclusive experience must purchase Wi-Fi and drink packages, shore excursions, specialty dining, etc. Thankfully, Celebrity offers two alcoholic packages, as well as a single non-alcoholic one, so guests can select the package that aligns most with their drinking habits.

The Classic Package is their basic option which includes select beers, spirits, cocktails, liqueurs, frozen drinks, and wines by the glass up to $10 per serving. Those who don't want to feel limited in their offerings will want to purchase the Premium Package, as it includes a broader selection of beverages.

Here's everything you should know about Celebrity's drink packages before you purchase one.

Regardless of which Celebrity drink package you purchase, bottled water, specialty coffees, teas, soda, and zero-proof cocktails are included

The Non-Alcoholic, Classic, and Premium Packages work at all restaurants and bars onboard, too. Those with the non-alcoholic package can order a mocktail or bottle of water from the Martini Bar, while those with the Premium Package can order one of the specialty martinis on the menu.

Drinks at private destinations (i.e., Labadee and Perfect Day at CocoCay) are also included. This differs from other mainstream cruise lines, such as Carnival, as they require all guests to purchase drinks ashore, even if they splurged on a drink package.

None of Celebrity's packages, however, include beverages from the cabin's mini-bar, ordered from room service, or bought in the onboard shops. You also must pay the 20% gratuity when booking, which eliminates the need to leave an additional tip whenever you order a drink.

The Classic Package is Celebrity's budget-friendly option

For $84.99-$89 per person, per day, you can order drinks up to $10, or $12 if you depart from a UK or Australian port. If you purchase it in advance through Celebrity's Cruise Planner, you can score the package for less, sometimes as low as $42 per person depending on the ongoing sale.

In addition to select cocktails, you'll be able to order the majority of the same non-alcoholic beverages available with the Zero Proof Package, except for specialty brands such as Red Bull. It also does not include juices from the Spa Café.

It's a great option for those who want to enjoy a couple alcoholic drinks daily on their cruise but don't care about the fancy cocktails. Rather than handcrafted martinis, those who are content with classics like rum and coke, simple wine, and traditional beer will get the most value out of this package.

Though you can still order more expensive drinks, you'll be charged the difference. If, for example, you want a Magic Spritz from the Magic Carpet, you will pay $7 plus a 20% gratuity, bringing the total for your cocktail to $8.75.

If you hypothesize that you'll want to indulge in premium selections on your cruise, you are better off paying for the upgraded package, so you do not have to worry about keeping an eye on your onboard spending. $8 here and $8 there can add up quickly. Two premium drinks per day will cost you another $120 on a weeklong cruise.

Celebrity's Zero Proof Package is the only non-alcoholic option

Unlike other mainstream lines, such as Royal Caribbean and Carnival, Celebrity Cruises doesn't offer a soda-only package, meaning those who want a non-alcoholic package, whether for children or adults who aren't heavy drinkers, will have to purchase the Non-Alcoholic (Zero Proof) Package.

From soda to specialty coffee at Cafe al Bacio, Acqua Panna and Evian water, zero-proof cocktails, Spa Café juices, and more, the Non-Alcoholic Package is a great way to enhance your cruise beyond the standard included beverages.

Like the alcoholic packages, the price of the Zero Proof Package varies. Typically, however, you can purchase it on Celebrity's Cruise Planner for around $30 to $45 per person, per day.

Guests seeking the most inclusive option will want to splurge on the Premium Package

With the Premium Package, you can select from a wide array of beverages up to $17 (or $20 for sailings from the UK and Australia), including cocktails, wine, and beer. If you want a bottle of wine, you'll receive a 20% discount, compared to the Classic Package's 15%.

Plus, like the Classic Package, non-alcoholic drinks are included, too. However, you'll also be able to order fresh juices from the Spa Café.

If you don't want to limit yourself on vacation or spend time figuring out what is and isn't included, the Premium Package is a good fit. While more expensive, ranging from $56 to $109 per day, pre-cruise sales can help you secure the more inclusive package for a lower price.

At the time of writing, the Cruise Planner for my upcoming Greek Isles cruise was advertising the Classic Package for $67.99 per day, with the Premium costing $79.99, or just $12 more per day.

None of the Celebrity drink packages come with a daily beverage limit

Some mainstream cruise lines include a daily cap for how many alcoholic beverages you can order daily. Celebrity, however, isn't one of them. While Carnival is known for the 15-beverage limit, Celebrity allows you to order as many drinks as you'd like—within reason.

Bartenders have the right to refuse any passenger service if they appear too intoxicated. Moreover, if Celebrity has any inclination that you're sharing your package with another guest—whether they're of legal drinking age or not—they can revoke your drink package without issuing a refund.

To prevent sharing, every person in the stateroom has to purchase a package

You aren't required to purchase a drink package to sail with Celebrity Cruises. If, however, one guest in your cabin decides to get one, all other passengers of legal drinking age in the same stateroom must do so as well.

If you purchase a Classic or Premium Package and are sailing with guests between the ages of 13 and 20, they must get the Non-Alcoholic Package. Guests 12 and under aren't required to have one.

Moreover, if you're sailing with a recovering alcoholic, pregnant passenger, or someone with another medical issue that prevents them from consuming alcohol, they're permitted to get the Non-Alcoholic Package.

Celebrity's "All Included" fare includes the Classic Package

Once you've selected your itinerary, ship, and stateroom, you'll have to choose between one of two fares: Cruise-Only and All Included.

Cruise-Only is the cheaper of the two and includes your accommodation, unlimited dining in complimentary venues, select beverages, entertainment, and transportation between ports of call. With All Included, you'll receive the same amenities as the Cruise-Only fare, as well as a Classic Drinks Package and Basic Wi-Fi.

According to Celebrity, by selecting the All Included fare, you'll save up to $200-$800 compared to what you'd pay by choosing add-ons later. When browsing sailings in July 2025, the Cruise-Only fare for a balcony cabin aboard Celebrity Reflection is $848 per passenger, while the All Included fare costs $1,358 per sailor. This breaks down to $85 extra per night for a drink and Wi-Fi package.

Once you've placed your deposit, you can access Celebrity Cruises' Cruise Planner, allowing you to upgrade from the Classic Drinks Package to the Premium and from Basic to Premium Wi-Fi. The cost varies based on sailing and the ongoing promotion.

For my 7-night Greek Isles cruise aboard Celebrity Ascent, I purchased the Premium Drinks Package for just $6.99 per day ($8.38 after gratuity) and Premium Wi-Fi for $6.99. I feel that upgrading was worth it, as paying for a single premium drink daily would have cost more!

Of course, the rate does vary. At the time of writing, my Cruise Planner was advertising the Classic to Premium upgrade for $13.99 per day and the Basic to Premium Wi-Fi for $7.99 per day.
