Royal Caribbean finally makes loyalty program change cruisers wanted most

Starting in 2026, Royal Caribbean Group is making a change to its loyalty programs that will affect rewards and how perks are earned. 

During the company's third-quarter earnings call on Tuesday, October 28, Jason Liberty, Royal Caribbean Group's C.E.O., announced Points Choice. 

"Guests will be able to apply loyalty points to the Royal Caribbean Group brand they prefer, regardless of which brand they are sailing with," Liberty explained. 

Royal Caribbean Group now completely owns Silversea Cruises

Two years after buying two-thirds of the cruise line, Royal Caribbean Group announced on Friday that it now fully owns Silversea Cruises.

Royal Caribbean purchased the remaining shares of the ultra-luxurious cruise line, which gives it full ownership of the company.

Royal Caribbean Group bought two-thirds of Silversea in July 2018.

Silversea becomes first cruise line to visit Antarctica

The Silver Whisper cruise ship, by Silversea, became the first cruise ship to visit Antarctica as part of an around-the-world cruise.

On February 4, 2020, Silver Whisper met up with the cruise line's Silver Cloud expedition ship in Antarctica's Wilhelmina Bay.

Guests on the cruise had four days to explore the area, helped along by specialized zodiac rafts that the cruise line carries.

Silversea Cruises announce 59-day Mediterranean cruise in 2021

Silversea Cruises opened up bookings for its 2021 Mediterranean cruises, including a new 59-day grand voyage sailing.

Rates start at $35,000 per person on the all-suite Silver Shadow cruise ship.

Between September 8 and November 5, 2021, guests will journey deep into 45 destinations in 17 countries, aboard the recently refurbished Silver Shadow.

First ever cruise to visit all seven continents begins

SilverSea's Silver Whisper departed Fort Lauderdale on January 6 on a 140-night seven-continent World Cruise.

The Legends of Cruising 2020 sailing will eventually conclude in Amsterdam, where guests will arrive on May 25 having circumnavigated the world. Pushing the boundaries of travel, guests on Silversea’s World Cruise 2020 will travel deep into 62 destinations in 32 countries, including the Antarctic Peninsula over three days.

The cruise line’s President and CEO Roberto Martinoli was in attendance at a bon voyage event prior to the ship's departure.

Silversea reveals details on its luxury Galapagos Islands cruise ship

Silversea unveiled new details regarding its Silver Origin ship, which is the cruise line's first ever destination-specific ship that will take guests to the Galapagos Islands in 2020.

Silversea's Silver Whisper begins World Cruise 2019

Silversea’s Silver Whisper began her ‘Tale of Tales’ World Cruise 2019 133-day voyage earlier this month. 

Silver Whisper underwent a large-scale renovation. The initial refurbishment plans of Silver Whisper were revised and augmented following the launch of Project Invictus, Silversea Cruise’s long-term plan to enrich and enlarge its fleet. With the comfort of guests in mind - namely, world cruising guests on the Tale of Tales - all public areas and guest accommodation were enhanced.
