Carnival Cruise ship classes guide & explanation (2024)

If you’re thinking of sailing with Carnival Cruise Line but don’t know which ship to book, you’ve come to the right place. Carnival has some of the most "Fun Ships at Sea," so you’re certainly in for a great time during your cruise!

Currently, Carnival Cruise Line operates 27 ships across its fleet, making it one of the largest cruise lines in the world. These cruise ships are classified into nine different ship classes, each with their own special flair.

5 things I liked better about Carnival than Royal Caribbean cruise

I recently cruised with Carnival Cruise Line for the first time in a decade. As someone who loves cruising with Royal Caribbean, it was fun to experience something that felt totally different than what I am used to.

Every cruise line adds their own special flair to cruising and each cruise ship has their own personality. While Royal Caribbean’s mega-ships are packed with onboard thrills and stunning entertainment, Carnival Cruise Line focuses on having a party-like atmosphere on its ships.

I tried the new Carnival testing procedure and here's how it went

Traveling in the post-pandemic world has involved constantly navigating COVID-19 requirements for vaccination, testing and masking. As someone who loves to travel, the hassle of jumping through these hoops is definitely worth it - even as protocols seemingly change all the time.

What it's like on a weekend Carnival cruise

When it comes to weekend cruises, no one does it better than Carnival Cruise Line.

In fact, Carnival was the first cruise line to really market itself as the best option for weekend cruises. This is unsurprising, as weekend getaway cruising perfectly aligns with Carnival’s brand of having "The Most Fun Ships at Sea."

I tried the best Carnival Cruise food options and here's how I'd rank them

One of the best parts of cruising is all of the amazing food that's available. Between complimentary food and specialty options, I love indulging and trying everything that a cruise ship has to offer.

On a recent cruise aboard Carnival Ecstasy, I was surprised to see most of Carnival’s signature venues available. Even though Ecstasy is the oldest ship in the Carnival fleet and heading to the scrapyard in a few weeks, the ship was outfitted with plenty of complimentary options for dining.

12 things that surprised me about going on my first Carnival cruise in a decade

When it comes to travel, I’ve slowly become more loyal to certain brands. As someone who loves to cruise and travel the world, I’d rather spend my money with companies that have earned my loyalty and continue to provide positive experiences.

I’ve learned the hard way that you normally get what you pay for.

I tried the cheapest Carnival Cruise Line cabin I could find and here's how it went

There are few things in life that I love more than finding an incredible cruise deal. For me, it’s so thrilling to find a last minute cruise deal that doesn’t break the bank and actually works with my crazy schedule.

Booking a cheap cruise also means I can spend money on things that I value when traveling, like splurging on food or fun excursions. It also allows me to travel and cruise more often - and who doesn’t love that?

Carnival Ecstasy Live Blog - Day 4 - At Sea

Hello CruiseBlog friends! It’s Sunday today, which means it’s our final day onboard this 4-night Carnival Ecstasy sailing from Mobile. We had a busy day squeezing in everything that we wanted to do (and eat!).

Angie and I are both surprised by how many things there are to do onboard the ship, especially considering its age.

Carnival Ecstasy Live Blog - Day 3 - Cozumel, Mexico

Happy Saturday from Cozumel! It's Day 3 of our 4-night cruise and the weekend is flying by.

I can't believe we are able to be whisked away to Mexico over the weekend - one of the many reasons I love cruising and living in the south. It was so easy to get to the cruise port from my home that this really makes the perfect weekend getaway. With only 4 days to see and do everything, we've been trying to squeeze in as much as possible.

Angie and I had another busy day both ashore in Cozumel and onboard Carnival Ecstasy!

Carnival Ecstasy Live Blog - Day 2 - At Sea

It’s our second day onboard Carnival Ecstasy and we had a busy day exploring everything this old girl has to offer.

It almost seems like we’ve entered a time warp to the 90s onboard this ship. Everything is brightly colored with neon shades everywhere you look. The ship wasn’t designed for easy navigation either, as we constantly have trouble figuring out where we need to go.
