The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating a passenger's death on the Carnival Horizon, a Carnival cruise ship based out of Miami, Florida. 

Federal authorities boarded the Vista Class ship when it returned to PortMiami on Saturday, November 8, 2025, the cruise line confirmed. 

"Our focus is on supporting the family of our guest and cooperating with the FBI," Carnival Cruise Line said to CBS News.

Two cruisers who allegedly suffered severe bed bug bites during a Carnival cruise in February 2025 are suing the cruise line. 

The passengers claimed that their cruise cabin aboard Carnival Horizon had a bed bug infestation and that Carnival was negligent in their response.

Plaintiffs Catherine Shockley and William Maycock filed the suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

Three major cruise companies have stepped up and donated money to help aid the relief effort following Hurricane Melissa's catastrophic impact on Jamaica.

Hurricane Melissa, one of the strongest storms ever recorded in the Atlantic, devastated Jamaica when it pummeled the country as a massive Category 5 hurricane earlier this week. 

Melissa developed into a tropical storm on October 21. Over the next few days, the storm system rapidly strengthened under favorable atmospheric conditions into a Category 5 hurricane before making landfall in Jamaica. 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regularly inspects cruise ships to ensure they're meeting strict health and safety standards. Although anything above an 86 is deemed satisfactory, cruise lines want to score as high as possible. This year, just one Carnival cruise ship earned a perfect 100.

Although the new rates aren't available publicly yet, passengers booked on 2026 sailings can see the higher prices reflected in their Cruise Manager accounts. 

Cruisers weren't notified before the hike, eliminating the possibility of locking in the lower price ahead of their future cruise vacation.
