Free room service is dead: Luxury line is now charging for it

One cruise line is eliminating free room service in certain cabins.

Starting in June 2025, guests sailing on Cunard ships will be required to pay for meals and snacks delivered to their staterooms after 10:00am.

The change only applies to passengers staying in Britannia cabins. Those in Princess Grill and Queens Grill suites will continue to enjoy the full room service menu at no additional charge.

Passengers warned to turn off the lights as cruise ship sailed through pirate waters

Cruise passengers aboard a Cunard ship received a chilling warning as they sailed through a region known for pirate activity.

As the 114,000-gross-ton Queen Anne made her way through the Sulu-Celebes Sea on her first-ever world cruise, the Captain informed guests the ship would be operating at a "heightening level of security alertness" as they passed through a piracy-prone area.

Why is Cunard so expensive?

While not as well-known as cruise giants like Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Norwegian, those looking for a more upscale voyage might be considering Cunard, as they're known for providing a luxurious cruise experience by emphasizing elegance and high-quality services.

With that, however, you'll find that Cunard fares tend to be more expensive than those on other lines. From the moment you step onboard, you'll be immersed in a world of sophistication that highlights exclusive amenities, gourmet dining, and personalized service

What it's like on the world's last ocean liner: Cunard’s Queen Mary 2

There’s more than one way to cross the Atlantic Ocean to reach the Old Country.

While most travelers choose the speedy and efficient method of flight, a voyage on a cruise ship is the classic way to enjoy a transatlantic journey.

I hopped on Cunard’s legendary Queen Mary 2 for my first crossing, going eastbound from New York City’s Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to Southampton to see exactly what seven days at sea feels like.
