Fire disables cruise ship in the Mediterranean, leaving thousands of passengers stranded in Turkey

Guests sailing aboard Celebrity Infinity were caught off guard when a reported electrical fire led to a "total blackout" onboard, leaving them unable to proceed to Mykonos. After being stuck in Turkey for two days, the remainder of the ports on the 7-night cruise have been unexpectedly canceled. 

Initially, cruisers were hopeful that they'd depart Kuşadası, Turkey, around 8:00PM. local time on July 9. However, the ongoing technical issues couldn't be resolved in time. As such, Celebrity Infinity will remain docked in Kuşadası through Friday, July 11.

Celebrity cruise ship stuck in port after suffering power issues

Celebrity Infinity is stuck in Kuşadası, Turkey, after suffering a power outage that left the ship without air conditioning and delayed meals. 

The 90,040 gross-ton vessel was scheduled to depart Kuşadası on July 7, continuing on to Mykonos on July 8. However, an alleged electrical fire forced the ship to remain docked overnight while crews assessed the damage and ensured everything was working properly.

Navy aircraft flew close to a cruise ship, alarming passengers. It turns out it's doing something very routine

A passenger sailing aboard a Carnival cruise ship was startled when a low-flying Navy military plane zoomed past the vessel while at sea. 

In a 1.5-minute TikTok captured by Nathan Miller, a P-8 Poseidon aircraft is seen flying low over the water. Miller expresses his concern while narrating the entire video. 

"Y'all, this is making me really nervous. I don't know what's about to happen," he says, "I hope [the plane] is just turning."
