Princess Cruises

Earlier this year, Princess Cruises launched their largest ship, Sun Princess. Measuring over 177,000 gross registered tons, the brand-new Sphere Class ship offers countless new experiences, ranging from the mesmerizing Dome to the artistic-inspired Love by Britto specialty restaurant. Another new concept that made its debut is The Sanctuary. 

Would you pay over $5,000 for a cruise ship suite with little to no privacy? Normally, you'd expect a stateroom with that price tag to offer luxurious amenities and expansive ocean views. 

However, my Reserve Collection Cabana Mini-Suite on Sun Princess sat on a shared deck, and guests staying in standard balconies on the decks above had a direct view of my balcony. 

Having sailed on the newest ships launched by premium cruise lines Celebrity Cruises and Princess Cruises, I've had the opportunity to gain firsthand experience at what makes each brand desirable. 

Celebrity's Edge Class ships boast modern, upscale designs, with an emphasis on luxury and fine dining. On the other hand, Princess' brand-new Sphere Class shines with its focus on a wealth of onboard activities, casual dining, and the line's innovative MedallionClass. 

Having cruised on lines like Royal Caribbean, Carnival, MSC, Celebrity, and Disney, I decided to embark on a fresh adventure and sail on Princess Cruises' newest ship, Sun Princess, during her inaugural voyage from North America. 

Princess Cruises launched Sun Princess in February 2024 as the cruise line's first Sphere Class ship. Measuring 177,882 gross registered tons with a passenger capacity of 4,300 at double occupancy, Sun is Princess's largest ship, surpassing Discovery Princess.

Though I've been on over 20 cruises, it wasn't until recently I stepped foot on a Princess ship. 

Growing up, my family primarily sailed with Royal Caribbean, but within the past year, I've branched out to Carnival to learn why they have the most "FUN" ships at sea. Seeking a more upscale experience, I decided to give Princess a try, embarking on Sun Princess upon her arrival in Fort Lauderdale. 

I recently sailed on Princess’ newest cruise ship in a luxurious balcony cabin. Even though it was a short 3-night cruise, I was grateful not to be stuck in a tiny, windowless inside stateroom and appreciated taking in the ocean views from my personal verandah. 

Sun Princess launched in February 2024 and spent the first part of her inaugural season in Europe. Now, she’s traveled across the Atlantic Ocean for a stint in the Caribbean.

During my recent cruise on Princess Cruises' newest and largest ship, I ventured from the included dining options in favor of their specialty restaurants to elevate my culinary experience. 

While you'll get the most bang for your buck by sticking with complimentary restaurants on cruise ships, specialty restaurants are known for offering higher-quality cuisine in intimate environments. 

Eating is arguably one of the best parts of taking a cruise. From massive buffets to indulgent multi-course meals in the Main Dining Room, there's something for everyone to enjoy. While passengers only see the dining areas and final presentation, the true culinary magic happens in the kitchen, AKA the galley. 

Drink packages are one of the most popular cruise add-ons. By purchasing a Princess Cruises beverage package, you can enjoy a fixed number of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for a set daily price during your sailing. 

Princess' base fare isn't all-inclusive, so while you won't have to worry about paying extra for theater productions or meals in the Main Dining Room, you will need to budget for optional expenses like specialty dining, excursions, and alcoholic beverages.
