Princess Cruises orders two new LNG-powered cruise ships

Princess Cruises announced it has entered into a deal with Fincantieri to build two new 175,000-ton cruise ships.  These will be the largest ships ever built in Italy.

Each ship will have double-occupancy capacity for approximately 4,300 passengers and feature a dual-fuel system, primarily powered by LNG.

The new ships will be delivered in Monfalcone in late 2023 and in spring 2025.

Today's deal follows up on a memorandum of agreement signed in July 2018.

Princess Cruises announces new French restaurant for Sky Princess

Princess Cruises announced the Sky Princess will offer guests a new French restaurant, which is the first time in the cruise line's history a French restaurant will be offered to North American guests.

The new restaurant, La Mer, is the creation of Three-Michelin Star Chef, Emmanuel Renaut. Sky Princess will arrive in Ft. Lauderdale in December 2019 for an inaugural season of Caribbean cruises.

"Sabor Latino" themed cruises planned for select Princess Cruises sailings

Princess Cruises today announced an exciting series of Latin-themed cruise itineraries on 7-day Caribbean cruises on two Caribbean Princess sailings in July 2019. The "Sabor Latino" themed cruises promise to deliver the Caribbean cruise experience, tailored to the preferences of the Latin American guest, with late night DJ dance parties, an onboard Spanish-speaking host, shore excursions guided in Spanish, and Latin-inspired cocktails.

The first Sabor Latino sailing will be on the Caribbean Princess on July 13, 2019, followed by the July 20, 2019 sailing of Caribbean Princess.

Guest on Princess Cruises celebrates 2500 days at sea

After nearly 30 years, Illene and Howard Weiner are being celebrated by Princess Cruises for being the most-travelled guest on the cruise line, with 2,500 days at sea spread over 282 cruises.

Princess Cruises announces schedule for expanding high-speed internet in 2019

Princess Cruises announced it will expand its MedallionNet internet service on additional ships by the end of 2019.

MedallionNet will expand to six additional ships this year:

  • Coral Princess (April 5)
  • Island Princess (May 15)
  • Crown Princess (June 30)
  • Emerald Princess (August 3)
  • Golden Princess (December 20)
  • Sky Princess (October 12)

MedallionNet is currently available on Caribbean Princess, Regal Princess, Royal Princess and Ruby Princess.

Princess Cruises plans to roll out "the Best Wi-Fi at sea" to six ship in 2019

Princess Cruises says it will launch MedallionNet, which it promises will be the best Wi-Fi at sea, to more than half of its fleet.

Princess will continue its swift expansion of MedallionNet to add the service on additional ships by the end of 2019. MedallionNet expands to Coral Princess and Island Princess in time for the Alaska season, Crown Princess and Emerald Princess for sailings during this summer to Europe and on Golden Princess and Sky Princess this fall. MedallionNet is currently available on Caribbean Princess, Regal Princess, Royal Princess and Ruby Princess.

Princess Cruises Announces Leadership Team for New Ship Sky Princess

Princess Cruises has announced the leadership team for its latest ship, Sky Princess, with Captain Heikki Laakkonen to take the helm and bring the ship into services from the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.

Sky Princess will debut in October 2019 and feature a team of officers with extensive maritime experience, including more than 140 years' combined service with Princess Cruises.

No itinerary changes expected due to Princess Cays fire

A Princess Cruises representative has informed Travel Agent that a recent fire on the cruise line's private island will not have any impact on scheduled visits.

The first Princess Cruises ship to visit Princess Cays is scheduled to take place on February 4.
