NY family loses out on $8,500 dream vacation as flight delay forces them to barely miss cruise

One family from New York was left heartbroken when a delayed flight caused them to miss their much-anticipated cruise vacation.

After a two-hour flight delay and trying to drive from Orlando to Port Canaveral in time, the devastated family watched their ship sail away without them because they were too late to board.

Hurricane Francine delays Carnival cruise ship from returning to port

Hurricane Francine, the latest storm in the Gulf of Mexico, is impacting Carnival Cruise Line’s current operations in New Orleans.

As of September 12, Carnival Valor will not be able to return to New Orleans until September 13, causing the 4-night cruise that was scheduled to leave on September 12 to become a 3-night cruise to nowhere.

Carnival Cruise Line changes itineraries for eight ships

Though frustrating, cruise lines have the right to adjust itineraries, whether the sailing is currently underway or years away.

Recently, Carnival Cruise Line alerted guests on eight ships with sailings in 2025 and 2026 about itinerary changes. The impacted ships include Carnival Jubilee, Carnival Celebration, Carnival Elation, Carnival Magic, Carnival Pride, Carnival Sunshine, Carnival Glory, and Carnival Conquest.

Carnival Cruise Line changes itineraries for three more ships

Following last week's decision to change the itineraries on eight ships, Carnival has announced three more ships with adjusted itineraries on select sailing in 2025 and 2026.

The affected ships include Carnival Freedom, Carnival Spirit, and Mardi Gras.

Carnival cruise ship hits drifting ice in Alaska

Carnival Spirit hit a small piece of ice while sailing in Alaska's Tracy Arm Fjord on September 5. Thankfully, no injuries were reported and the ship experienced minimal damage.

After the ship's crew and a smaller vessel completed their inspection, Carnival Spirit was cleared to resume sailing and continued to Skagway.

Celebrity will put new 2026-2027 cruises on sale soon

Celebrity Cruises has released its 2026-2027 deployment schedule.

Itineraries to Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, Bermuda, Hawaii, Iceland, Japan, and Northern Europe will be available for booking first, starting the first week of October.
