VIDEO: Crane falls onto Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas

Reports and video from the Bahamas indicate a large crane fell and hit Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas while the ship is undergoing minor repairs.

The incident happened today at shortly after noon. It is unknown at this time if there is any damage to Oasis of the Seas.

The Bahamas Press posted a video showing a crane leaning up against the side of the cruise ship.

April Fools: Virgin Voyages offering private jet transfers to cruise ship

Royal Caribbean jumped into the April Fools spirit with the announcement of the launch of its first aircraft, Master of the Skies.

Kelly Arison to be Godmother of Carnival Sunrise

Carnival Cruise Line announced that Kelly Arison, daughter of Carnival Corporation Chairman Micky Arison and his wife Madeleine, will serve as godmother for the ship at an invitation-only ceremony in New York on May 23.

Kelly will step into the godmother role previously held by her mother when the ship first entered service as Carnival Triumph, in 1999. In an added stroke of family ties, Kelly’s grandmother Lin Arison served as godmother to Carnival Sunrise’s sister ship, Carnival Sunshine, in 2013.

Celebrity Cruises’ modern-luxury ship Celebrity Solstice expanded its South Pacific repertoire this week with maiden calls to the incredible island archipelagos of Samoa and Tonga.

The Australian-based 2850-passenger ship made its debut to Samoan capital Apia at 8am on Saturday 23 March, allowing guests eight sun-filled hours to explore the vibrant harbourside capital and its surrounding regions.

Princess Cruises announces its 2021 World Cruise itinerary ever with more ports and countries than ever before.

Virgin Voyages announces on-board music experiences including record shop and karaoke lounge

Virgin Voyages announced today its first cruise ship, Scarlet Lady, will feature an onboard record shop, karaoke studio, and artfully selected music.

Due to set sail for its inaugural season in 2020, Scarlet Lady will be equipped with an on ship record shop called Voyage Vinyl, The Groupie, a private karaoke and gaming lounge, and perfectly curated music and performances by up-and-coming artists as well as music trendsetters for Virgin Voyages’ Sailors to enjoy.

Princess Cruises orders two new LNG-powered cruise ships

Princess Cruises announced it has entered into a deal with Fincantieri to build two new 175,000-ton cruise ships.  These will be the largest ships ever built in Italy.

Each ship will have double-occupancy capacity for approximately 4,300 passengers and feature a dual-fuel system, primarily powered by LNG.

The new ships will be delivered in Monfalcone in late 2023 and in spring 2025.

Today's deal follows up on a memorandum of agreement signed in July 2018.
