Princess Cruises plans to roll out "the Best Wi-Fi at sea" to six ship in 2019

Princess Cruises says it will launch MedallionNet, which it promises will be the best Wi-Fi at sea, to more than half of its fleet.

Princess will continue its swift expansion of MedallionNet to add the service on additional ships by the end of 2019. MedallionNet expands to Coral Princess and Island Princess in time for the Alaska season, Crown Princess and Emerald Princess for sailings during this summer to Europe and on Golden Princess and Sky Princess this fall. MedallionNet is currently available on Caribbean Princess, Regal Princess, Royal Princess and Ruby Princess.

Norwegian Cruise Line will debut new Cruise Freedom on Norwegian Encore

During an earnings call with investors, Norwegian Cruise Line announced its new Cruise Freedom technology initiative will debut on Norwegian Encore later this year.

Cruise ship leaves late passengers behind at dock

A couple who were late to returning to Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas had the unfortunate distinction of being left behind at the pier.

According to some reports online, the ship waited past the departure time for the couple while in Nassau, Bahamas.  By the time the couple arrived, the ship had already begun to leave.

Symphony of the Seas was on a 7-night Western Caribbean sailing.

Royal Caribbean orders Sixth Oasis-class Vessel From Chantiers de l’Atlantique

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (NYSE: RCL) today announced that it has entered into an agreement with French shipbuilder Chantiers de l'Atlantique to order a sixth Oasis-class ship for delivery in the fall of 2023.

"It is such a pleasure to announce the order of another Oasis-class ship," said Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. "This order is a reflection of the exceptional performance of this vessel class and the extraordinary partnership between Chantiers de l'Atlantique and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd."
