Royal Caribbean bans man for life who jumped from cruise ship

Royal Caribbean issued a lifetime ban to a man who jumped from a cruise ship in a vain effort to seek internet fame.

Nick Naydev posted a video on Instagram last week of his jump from the 11th deck of Symphony of the Seas while the ship was in Nassau, Bahamas.

Naydev survived the stunt, although he did suffer some minor discomfort from the impact into the water.

Hospital kicks out cruise passenger who could not pay bill

A hospital in Cancun, Mexico forced a cruise ship passenger who was brought to in for a medical emergency to leave after failing to prove the patient could pay for the surgery.

Chase Kehler, 22 years old from Little Rock, Arkansas, was diagnosed by cruise ship doctors as suffering with acute appendicitis which, if left untreated, can be life-threatening.

Two cruise ship passengers attacked in St. Lucia

According to the St Lucia Times, two cruise ship passengers were attacked in Sans Souci, Castries, Saturday morning.

According to information obtained by St Lucia Times from reliable sources, the two were pounced on by two young thugs after they exited Serenity Park about 10.00 a.m.

Carnival sued by three passengers over cruise ship tilting

Carnival Cruise Line is being sued by three passengers who claim they were injured when the Carnival Sunshine listed to one side.

Susan and Charles Orgbon, of Georgia, and Alveta Jordan Armstrong, of North Carolina, on Tuesday filed suit in the U.S. District for the Southern District of Florida. alleging Carnival was negligent in its operation of the vessel.

Disney Cruise Line raises gratuities

Effective January 19, 2019, Disney Cruise Line will raise its recommended gratuity guidelines. The new recommended gratuity rate is $13.50 per passenger/per day based.

“The recommended increase is $0.50 per passenger/per day for the Dining Room Service Team and Stateroom Host/Hostess. The total recommended gratuity is $13.50 per passenger/per day based. Total gratuity is based on the length of the cruise.”

The exact timing of when the change goes into effect depends on the exact sailing and ship.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises orders new cruise ship

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. announced an order for a new ship for Regent Seven Seas Cruises.  The new vessel will be a sister ship to Seven Seas Explorer. The ship will be designed and built by Fincantieri S.p.A. for delivery in late 2023.

Accommodating up to 750 guests, the new ship will be Regent's sixth-all-suite vessel. Details regarding her itineraries, accommodations, dining venues, amenities and onboard experiences will be revealed leading up to her 2023 debut. Voyages for the ship’s inaugural season will go on sale in 2021.

Norwegian Gem makes Panama Canal crossing for first time

On January 10th, the Norwegian Gem became the 10th ship of the modern Norwegian Cruise Line fleet to cross the Panama Canal, visiting 10 new port cities during that sailing.

“We are very excited to showcase another one of our incredible ships on the West Coast, offering guests there a chance to experience our fleet and enjoy the freedom and flexibility that comes with cruising Norwegian,” said Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line.
