Royal Caribbean first cruise line cancel visits to Cuba

Following the Trump administration's announcement that many options to travel to Cuba will no longer be allowed, Royal Caribbean International became the first cruise line to cancel sailings.

Royal Caribbean posted on its website that is canceling scheduled stops in Cuba on June 5 and June 6.

Trump administration bans people-to-people travel to Cuba

Effective today, the Trump administration imposed significant new travel restrictions on visits to Cuba by U.S. citizens that appears to mean the end of cruise ship visits to the island.

The Treasury Department announced that the U.S. will no longer allow cruises to Cuba or the group educational and cultural trips known as “people to people” travel to the island. This ends a heavily used form of educational travel.

Carnival reaches deal to pay $20 million in damages for polluting the environment

Federal prosecutors and Carnival Corporation have reached a tentative agreement to pay $20 million in fines, following evidence some of the cruise line's ships continued to pollute the oceans despite promising years ago to stop.

Carnival acknowledged in court documents Monday it violated terms of probation from a 2016 criminal conviction for discharging oily waste from its subsidary cruise line, Princess Cruise Lines, and subsequently covering it up.

Carnival Cruises announces new environmental policy changes

Carnival Cruise Line announced today sweeping changes to its fleet that are aimed at protecting the environmental impact of its ships.

Carnival Cruises' Senior Cruise Director and Brand Ambassador John Heald published a letter about a number of recent changes, explaining the importance the company places on the environment.

The cruise line is making some major changes on its ships over the next few months and some of the changes may have already been noticed on a recent cruise.

MSC Cruise ship crashes into dock in Venice

The MSC Opera cruise ship has crashed into a dock in Venice, Italy and there are reports of multiple injuries, as well as damage to the dock.

Video of the incident was shared to social media.

Carnival Cruise Line Adds Drinks to HUB App’s ‘Pizza Anywhere’ Feature

Following the successful rollout of Carnival Cruise Line HUB App’s ‘Pizza Anywhere’ feature, the company has expanded this functionality to include beverage delivery. After choosing a hand-tossed pizza with their preferred toppings, guests will be asked whether they would like a beer, soda or water to accompany their meal. To place an order, guests simply tap on the ship’s map to mark their location, take a selfie to identify themselves and select their desired order.

Carnival cruise ship rescues man from sinking boat

The Carnival Paradise rescued a man near Cozumel who was in a small, sinking boat last week.

The cruise ship was on a four-day cruise when it reversed course to save the man from Mexico.

Disney Cruise Line signs long-term agreement to put new ships at Port Canaveral

Disney Cruise Line and The Canaveral Port Authority agreed on a new 20-year agreement that will expand operations and make Port Canaveral home for two of Disney’s three new ships.

The new pact provides a 20-year primary term with two additional five-year renewals. Initially, the call guarantee remains at 150 calls, but increases to 180 calls in 2023 and up to 216 calls in 2024 through the remainder of the 20-year term. It will go into effect on June 1 and replaces an existing marine terminal agreement that was set to expire December 31, 2027.
