Carnival Cruise Line Signs Three-Year Extension with Mobile, Alabama

Carnival Cruise Line and the City of Mobile signed a three-year extension at a press conference held aboard the Carnival Fantasy. That ship will continue sailing from Mobile through November 2022

With the agreement, Carnival Fantasy will continue its popular four- and five-day cruises to Mexico from the Alabama Cruise Terminal, bringing 170,000 guests to Mobile annually.

Carnival Cruise Line announced it has resumed regular visits to Grand Bahamas with a visit today when Carnival Pride docked in Freeport. Carnival Elation will follow on Sunday, Oct. 13 and Carnival Freedom on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Carnival passenger injured after falling onto cruise ship deck

A passenger on the Carnival Valor was injured after he fell off a railing to a lower deck.

"Carnival Cruise Line can confirm that a 23-year-old male guest sailing on Carnival Valor was injured on board and, after being evaluated by the ship’s medical team, it was determined that he required further evaluation and treatment," Vance Gulliksen, a spokesperson for Carnival said in a statement. "He was airlifted off the ship via helicopter and transferred to a shoreside medical facility."

Royal Caribbean announces world's largest cruise ship to sail from China in 2021

Today, Royal Caribbean International announced the homeport and name of its fifth Oasis Class ship. The next ship to join the leading cruise line’s innovative lineup will be named Wonder of the Seas and will set sail from Shanghai, China. 

The details were revealed by Royal Caribbean President and CEO, Michael Bayley, at a global cruise industry conference event held in Shanghai. Debuting in 2021, the world's largest cruise ship will introduce a new era of cruising as the first of the renowned Oasis Class to sail the Asia Pacific.

Costa Smeralda begins sea trials

The Costa Smeralda left the Meyer Turku shipyard earlier this week to begin her first set of sea trials.

On October 7, the new LNG-fueled ship by Costa Cruises has left the shipyard for to begin sea trials.

The 5,224-guest Costa vessel is one of Carnival's next-generation Excel-class ship platform. The ship has a cost of $950 million.

Virgin Voyages will let you order champagne by shaking your phone

Virgin Voyages cruise line announced a new on-demand champagne delivery service, Shake for Champagne, which will allow passengers on its cruise ship to request champagne with a shake of their phone.

When the Virgin Voyages Sailor App is shaken, a secret Virgin Voyages Champagne button is revealed and, with just one press, a bottle of Möet & Chandon Impérial will be delivered to the guest.

Delivered in a red champagne bucket, the service includes a 750ml bottle of Möet & Chandon Impérial with two glasses. 

Royal Caribbean plans $110 million in upgrades to Explorer of the Seas

Royal Caribbean announced what upgrades and changes are coming to Explorer of the Seas as part of an upcoming $110 million amplification.

The upgrades will add several new experiences to Explorer of the Seas, including The Perfect Storm waterslides, a reimagined poolscape, The Lime & Coconut poolside bar and more.
