Royal Caribbean joined other cruise lines in cancelling its January 2021 cruises, and also cancelled cruises through the end of February.

As Royal Caribbean works towards getting approval to sail again from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, it announced its cruises through February 28, 2021.

In addition, Australia sailings are suspended through April 30, 2021.

Today's announcement does not apply to two ships:

Royal Caribbean has plenty of people to choose from when it begins its test cruises, because over 100,000 people have volunteered.

Michael Bayley, Royal Caribbean International President and CEO, shared on his Facebook page on Sunday the staggering amount of people who would love to go on a free cruise to help test out the new health protocols.

"And just like that…100,000 people have volunteered. We can’t wait to start this next phase with you all!" Michael Bayley wrote on Facebook.

Royal Caribbean has released new summer summer 2022 cruises that boast cruises across six ships  from Florida, Texas and New York, which include new itineraries and evening stays.

The new summer 2022 lineup is available to book immediately and is for itineraries 5 nights or longer. The cruise line will announce its remaining Caribbean summer 2022 deployment early next year.

Royal Caribbean announced it will offer Alaska cruises in 2022 across 4 cruise ships.

The new sailings that visit many different destinations in Alaska, including the culturally rich towns of Haines and Sitka, Seward’s wild natural beauty, and the majestic vistas of the Inside Passage and Hubbard Glacier.

Royal Caribbean’s 2022 Alaska cruises open for bookings on Wednesday, Nov. 11; Crown & Anchor Society loyalty members are able to book today.

Before Royal Caribbean can offer cruises again, it will need volunteers to test out cruises to ensure they are safe.

Royal Caribbean's Senior Vice President, Sales, Trade Support and Service, Vicki Freed, told travel agents during a webinar that volunteers will be needed to test cruise ships in order to satisfy the new health protocols.

It is not determined yet how they will ask for volunteers.

Royal Caribbean Group released its third quarter 2020 results, in addition to a business update for investors to get a sense of where the company is during the shutdown.

On March 13, 2020 and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company voluntarily suspended its global cruise operation.

The company resumed limited cruise operations outside of the U.S. in July with three vessels from TUI cruises and two vessels from Hapag Lloyd, and in September, for a limited period, with one Silversea ship.

Royal Caribbean updated its 2021-22 winter sailings with new cruise ship redeployments in the Caribbean and Australia.

The changes were made based on, "market research and valuable feedback from guests and travel partners around the world", which the cruise line claims will add variety in departure ports and itinerary length.

Royal Caribbean filed a trademark for a wearable device that might be part of the cruise line's effort to restart cruises safely.

RoyalCaribbeanBlog.com first reported the discovery that Royal Caribbean had filed a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the term "Tracelet".

Royal Caribbean announced that it will finally be able to restart cruises, beginning with cruises from Singapore in December.

Quantum of the Seas will begin cruises that visit no ports, beginning with a December 1 cruises. Royal Caribbean has 3- and 4-night cruises available to book that are only available to residents of Singapore.

The cruise line has worked for months with the Singapore Government to offer these pilot cruises.
