Royal Caribbean orders Sixth Oasis-class Vessel From Chantiers de l’Atlantique

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (NYSE: RCL) today announced that it has entered into an agreement with French shipbuilder Chantiers de l'Atlantique to order a sixth Oasis-class ship for delivery in the fall of 2023.

"It is such a pleasure to announce the order of another Oasis-class ship," said Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. "This order is a reflection of the exceptional performance of this vessel class and the extraordinary partnership between Chantiers de l'Atlantique and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd."

Royal Caribbean to visit Ilocos for first time

Royal Caribbean International has scheduled one of its cruise ships to visit the international seaport of Currimao in Ilocos Norte this year. 

Ilocos is a region in the Philippines, encompassing the northwestern coast of Luzon island. It’s known for its historic sites, beaches and the well-preserved Spanish colonial city of Vigan. 

Dating from the 16th century, Vigan’s Mestizo district is characterized by cobblestone streets and mansions with wrought-iron balconies. Farther north, Laoag City is a jumping-off point for the huge La Paz Sand Dunes.

Royal Caribbean cuts steel on second Quantum Ultra class ship

Royal Caribbean began construction its second Quantum Ultra class ship today, Odyssey of the Seas. The 27th ship in the global cruise line’s fleet is set to be named Odyssey of the Seas.

Set to debut in fall 2020, Odyssey of the Seas will sail from the United States. Additional details on Odyssey will be revealed later this year.

Royal Caribbean will debut 5 private islands in the next 5 years

Cruisers can expect Royal Caribbean to open five new private islands over the next five years.

Travel Weekly spoke with Royal Caribbean International President & CEO Michael Bayley, who indicated Royal Caribbean will open five ‘Perfect Day’ private islands over the next five years.

Following the revamping of Perfect Day at CocoCay, the cruise line will add private islands in Asia, China, off the coast of Australia and another in the Caribbean.

Search for overboard Majesty of the Seas crew member suspended

After the US Coast Guard searched for 24 hours and covered 1,388 square miles of ocean, the search for a missing crew member from Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas has been suspended.

Coast Guard officials say the search ended at approximately 7:20 a.m. Friday.

The search for the  26-year-old crew member began on Thursday morning.

The United States Coast Guard is engaged in a search for a 26-year-old crew member from Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas that went overboard on Thursday morning.

The search is being conducted  40 miles (65 kilometers) east of Hillsboro Inlet, which is in the Atlantic Ocean off Florida.

Navigator of the Seas will have the world's longest water slide at sea

Royal Caribbean is upgrading Navigator of the Seas and when it is finished, it will include the world's longest water slide at sea, which includes a section that extends over the side of the ship.

The Blaster water slide is over 800 feet in length and will propel a two-person raft over hills and drops.

Royal Caribbean bans man for life who jumped from cruise ship

Royal Caribbean issued a lifetime ban to a man who jumped from a cruise ship in a vain effort to seek internet fame.

Nick Naydev posted a video on Instagram last week of his jump from the 11th deck of Symphony of the Seas while the ship was in Nassau, Bahamas.

Naydev survived the stunt, although he did suffer some minor discomfort from the impact into the water.
