Princess Cruise Ships by Age: Newest to Oldest (2026)

PCL_St_Thomas_USVI_Sun

Princess Cruises has been around since 1965, with the first cruise setting sail on December 3, 1965. Since the cruise line's launch over 60 years ago, the cruising industry has changed dramatically.

In fact, the original Sun Princess was advertised as being around 17,000 gross tons. Comparatively, her namesake, which was launched in 2024, is a little over 177,000 gross registered tons.

Today's newest ships have a lot more amenities, from an increased number of dining venues and bars to unique entertainment venues.

That said, some travelers prefer older ships due to their smaller size, as they have a more intimate feel and may visit destinations that can't accommodate the larger mega-ships.

Whether you are a fan of newer or older ships, Princess Cruises' fleet of 17 has a vessel that's perfect for every cruiser. Here is a list of Princess's ships by age as of 2026.
