A Norwegian cruise ship has changed plans due to a "technical issue" that has forced the vessel to reduce its speed in Alaska.

Passengers traveling aboard Norwegian Bliss's current seven-night cruise were informed that their scheduled itinerary was altered because of an issue with the ship's propulsion system. 

Although no ports of call have been axed, the time spent in port has been reduced by up to three hours in certain destinations. 

An elderly cruise passenger died while snorkeling at a cruise private island in The Bahamas on Sunday, May 3, 2026. 

The 83-year-old man was visiting Great Strirrup Cay in the Berry Islands when he was discovered unresponsive by his son without his mask around 2:00 p.m., Eyewitness News reported. 

One popular cruise line increased the price of its drink package on certain sailings. Passengers embarking on 2-5 night voyages with Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) will now have to pay more for their Free at Sea drink package. 

Now, those going on shorter cruises will pay $32 per day for the NCL drink package, up from $28.50, if booked in advance. This means that, for a five-night cruise, you can expect to pay $160, compared to $142.50.

The identity of the missing crew member who went overboard from a cruise ship off the coast of New England over the weekend has been confirmed.

On Saturday, April 25, the 3,963-passenger Norwegian Breakway was en route to Boston from Bermuda when security footage captured someone going overboard about 12 miles from Cape Cod, which prompted an immediate search-and-rescue response. 

The search for a missing crew member who went overboard from a cruise ship off the coast of New England late Saturday night has been suspended, the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed. 

Security camera footage captured the unidentified crew member, who had been working aboard the Norwegian Breakaway cruise ship, falling into the freezing ocean about 12 miles from Cape Cod.

While age makes a huge difference in the onboard experience, so does size. For example, you won't find as many amenities on Norwegian Sun as on Norwegian Joy or Luna. 

A Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) passenger filed a maritime personal injury lawsuit after sustaining a serious injury while aboard the Norwegian Escape ship.

According to the complaint, Donka Kennedy, of Illinois, alleges that she suffered a "serious left femur fracture after slipping on a dangerous substance" while walking toward the buffet in January 2025.
