If you are a fan of Disney Cruise Line it is likely that you have heard rumors and small hints about the newest ship to the fleet, the Disney Treasure.
Up until recently the only thing known about the Disney Treasure was some of its design features and a rumored release date of 2024.
This week on September 5th 2023, Disney Cruise Line released a video as well as an article revealing many of the new details onboard the Disney Treasure.
We recently returned from a sailing onboard the Disney Fantasy ship for the first time. It was very exciting to explore this Disney ship and we here at Cruise Blog are excited to learn more about the newest Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Treasure being released next year.
“From venturing to colorful plazas in Mexico to navigating the jungle and traveling below the ocean’s surface, the theme of adventure will thread brand-new venues with familiar guest-favorite spaces on board the Disney Treasure,” states Disney Cruise Line.
Let’s dive into some of the newly released details about Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Treasure!
New Dining and Fan Favorites
Onboard the Disney Treasure guests will find all new dining spaces to explore.
One of the newest dining venues onboard will be called ‘Plaza de Coco’ and will be the first theatrical dining experience themed after the Disney and Pixar film, Coco. This dining venue will be as much about the food as the live entertainment. Disney describes this dining experiences as “theater-in-the-round entertainment featuring a central stage surrounded by dining tables with performances and show effects that will spread throughout the room.”
Similarly to Disney Cruise Line’s iconic restaurant Animator’s Palette, guests will have the opportunity to dine at Plaza de Coco twice during the course of a 7-night sailing onboard the Disney Treasure. The first time guests dine at Plaza de Coco “the story of Miguel and his familia will continue where it left off in the film as they gather in Mariachi Plaza to take your family on a colorful, music-filled journey, including a dinner featuring modern twists on traditional Mexican fare and a lineup of live entertainment,” says Disney Cruise Line about this experience.
The second night guests onboard the Disney Treasure dine at Plaza de Coco they will get to experience a celebration of Dia de los Muertos with the characters from Coco alongside favorite songs from the Disney film.
A brand new sweet shop will be featured onboard the Disney Treasure that is sure to excite all members of the family. This new sweet shop will be called ‘Jumbeaux’s Sweets’ and will be themed after the ice cream shop seen in the Disney movie Zootopia.
“Surrounded by playful pink interiors, Victorian-style architecture and an endearing sculpture of Officer Judy Hopes and Nick Wilde, your family can indulge in more than 35 flavors of handmade gelato, ice cream and sorbets, specialty treats, candies and more,” states Disney Cruise Line about this sweet new venue onboard the Disney Treasure.
In addition to the brand new dining venue onboard, the Disney Treasure will also feature two fan favorites from the Disney Wish ship. The ‘Worlds of Marvel’ and ‘1923’ dining venues.
For adults looking to enjoy a luxurious and intimate dining experience, guests can check out the adult-exclusive dining venues Palo Steakhouse and Enchante by Chef Arnaud Lallament onboard the Disney Treasure. Additionally The Rose will also have a presence onboard the Disney Treasure where adults can unwind and enjoy some refinement alongside exceptional views and gourmet meals at sea.
Bars and Lounges Inspired by the Theme Parks
Disney loves to incorporate their theme parks and movies into the Disney Cruise Line ships, and they have taken this to the next level onboard the Disney Treasure.
Disney highlights its efforts to bring the magic and whimsey onboard by stating, “for the first time ever, the nostalgia and lore from beloved theme park attractions will come to Disney Cruise Line with a unique lineup of all-new Disney Parks-inspired venues aboard the Disney Treasure.”
One of the brand new venues found only onboard the Disney Treasure will be the ‘Skipper Society’. This area will be a themed lounge located near the Grand Hall onboard, and will bring to life the iconic Jungle Cruise Disney attraction at sea. “The venue’s natural color ways and camp-style furnishings will pair with sly tributes to the trusty, dry-witted skippers for an elevated, playful atmosphere,” says Disney Cruise Line.
Disney says that guests will be able to explore and discover hidden details and references to the iconic Jungle Cruise ride such as the monkey-shaped chandelier, postcards, and luggage tags hinting at far away travels abroad. Perhaps one of the most exciting things about this new venue is the themed cocktails and snacks that will be served beneath a canopy of jungle foliage.
Excitingly there will not be just one new bar and lounge but at least two onboard the Disney Treasure that are completely new to Disney Cruise Line. Guests will be able to dive beneath the waves at the new Periscope Pub. This unique space will be the first venue inspired by the adventure of Walt Disney’s 1954 film ’20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’ as well as the celebrated Disney Parks ride that was open at Walt Disney World from 1971 to 1994.
Disney Cruise Line says the following about the design of this new venue, “the design of the submarine-style interiors will call upon 19th century steampunk influences with polished metals and industrial touches. A mysterious window into the depths of the uncharted oceans along the ceiling will give you a chance to feel like Captain Nemo on the Nautilus, while a decorative statement rug in the center of the space will honor Captain Nemo’s fabled nemesis, the giant squid. This casual venue will be the ideal onboard location to unwind and watch live sports or news while ordering from a menu of craft brews and light bites.”
New Suites Onboard and Exciting Staterooms
Disney Cruise Line is bringing the magic and wonder of its theme parks ever closer onboard the Disney Treasure, not just in its bars and lounges but also into some of its staterooms.
(Bunk Beds inside the Tomorrow Tower Suite onboard the Disney Treasure)
The Tomorrow Tower Suite will be a brand new luxury suite onboard to guests that will bring forth the design and amenities of the future. “The Tomorrow Tower Suite will capture the same forward-thinking mindset that inspired the Walt Disney World Resort theme park, EPCOT, with an energetic design. Throughout the suite, dynamic art pieces, molten metal accents and futuristic, colorful glass accents will evoke the distinct atmosphere of EPCOT’s World Discovery neighborhood. Set high in the ship’s forward funnel, this one-of-a-kind suite will overlook the top deck of the Disney Treasure and glimpse the open horizon through an expansive two-story window. With nearly 2,000 square feet of living space, the Tomorrow Tower Suite will comfortably sleep eight guests and feature areas for eating, sleeping and playing, as well as other perks like a full kitchen and private ensuite elevator.”
In addition to a beautiful new suite type, the Disney Treasure will also feature new designs to its classic staterooms.
There will be exactly 1,246 staterooms onboard the Disney Treasure once it is finished. These rooms will also feature elements inspired by classic Disney films and adventures. The stateroom cabins will include custom artwork and design elements that evoke the exploratory spirit of Disney films such as Aladdin, Pocahontas, Up, and Encanto.
Disney says that its concierge and royal suites onboard the Disney Treasure will also have their own unique Disney touches featuring The Lion King, The Jungle Book, and Aladdin.
Grand Hall and Atrium
The central space of the Disney Treasure will be the ‘Grand Hall’. Onboard many of the Disney Cruise Line ships the Atrium or Grand Hall is the heart of the ship where many fun events, gatherings, and even entertainment takes place. This will be very similar onboard the Disney Treasure, but with a brand new design highlighting adventure.
“The Grand Hall will embody the ship’s theme of adventure, with statues and decor that call on the gilded palace and wonder of Agrabah from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ classic tale, Aladdin. The space will serve as the ship’s most prominent gathering space and will offer its own dedicated entertainment moments and surprises,” states Disney Cruise Line about the Disney Treasure Grand Hall.
Adventurous Princess Themed Cafes
Very close to the Grand Hall, guests will be able to sample refreshments and offerings from several brand new cafes and spaces. Two casual walk-up cafes will serve a selection of coffee, tea, snacks, and specialty beverages.
These new cafes will have all new themes not yet seen onboard any of the previous Disney Cruise Line ships, honoring and featuring the two Disney Princesses Moana and Mulan.
“Named for Moana’s trusty sidekick, Heihei Cafe, will echo the scalloped seashells and reflective blue waters of the storied Southern Pacific Isle of Motunui as it is portrayed in Disney’s animated feature ‘Moana’. Meanwhile, the Jade Cricket Cafe, inspired by the classic Disney film Mulan, will honor the Fa Family’s lucky cricket, Cri-Kee, who will be represented by a jade sculpture on the bar top,” explains Disney Cruise Line about these two new cafes onboard the Disney Treasure.
Onboard the Disney Treasure there will be all new central locations onboard in which fun activities will be held as well as unique entertainment throughout cruise sailings.
‘Sarabi’ will be one of these brand new locations in which adult-exclusive entertainment will be held in the evenings. This location will “evoke the natural beauty and openness of the savanna where its namesake, the lioness matriarch from Disney’s The Lion King lived,” says Disney Cruise Line.
Brand New AquaMouse Attraction
Onboard the Disney Wish, Disney Cruise Line’s ship that was launched last year in 2022, the cruise line debuted its first large attraction at sea, the AquaMouse.
Onboard the Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line will be expanding on this exciting innovation.
(Disney's AquaMouse onboard the Disney Wish ship)
“Disney Cruise Line’s own attraction at sea, AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg, will plunge guests into the world of Mickey Mouse animated shorts. Suspended high above the upper decks, powerful jets will propel two-person ride vehicles through 760 feet of winding tubes, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and ship below. Onboard the Disney Treasure, AquaMouse will introduce an all-new storyline that follows Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse on a zany misadventure into an ancient temple for a glimpse of the legendary treasure within,” says Disney Cruise Line about its newest rendition of the AquaMouse waterslide and attraction.
New Entertainment and Classic shows
While we received a lot of information and sneak peeks into what the Disney Treasure will have in store for guests, there is still more to be revealed. This includes information about a brand new theater show onboard the Disney Treasure, with more details coming soon!
In addition to this new and exciting show, guests will be able to enjoy live theater performances of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ as well as ‘Disney Seas the Adventure’.
Disney Cruise Line would not be complete without its exclusive fireworks at sea. The Disney Treasure will bring this exclusive entertainment to life during its Pirates Rockin’ Parlay Party onboard.
Spaces for Kids
It would not be a Disney cruise without some truly awesome kids spaces. Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Edge, Vibe, and Its A Small World Nursery will all be present onboard the Disney Treasure.
These kids areas are truly exceptional and will undoubtedly feature some new and exciting spaces for kids of all ages to explore while onboard Disney’s newest ship. Stay tuned to Cruise Blog for the latest details once they are announced about the specifics and details in these areas.
