A viral TikTok captured the scary moment that a cruise passenger got stuck in a water slide aboard a Norwegian Cruise Line ship.

@kaylamierzejewski posted the video on September 19, 2025. Since then, it's gotten over 6.9 million views and 238,000 likes.

Although the TikTok user didn't specifically reveal the ship the incident happened on, other videos indicate it happened aboard the Norwegian Escape on a modified cruise from New York City to The Bahamas during Hurricane Erin.

The short 13-second clip shows an unidentified guest attempting to scoot her way through the clear water slide. Even scarier? She got stuck on the portion that hangs over the ocean!

Ocean Loops is a popular attraction on NCL ships. The double loop water slide hangs 11 feet off the side of the ship (and a shocking 159 feet above the ocean).

Adding to the anxiety, cruisers stand on a trap door that suddenly swings open and sends them into a heart-pounding fall.

Water slides on cruise ships are generally safe. However, incidents like this remind guests that the most thrilling attractions can come with unexpected risks.

"I don't do water slides and [now] this unlocked a new reason for me to not get on," daskew82 commented.

Leafhopper 🧚🏽‍♀️ added, "I can’t breathe watching this. It’s probably all moist and humid in it."

A male passenger was injured on a water slide aboard one of the world's largest cruise ships on August 7, 2025. He was riding the Frightening Bolt, one of six water slides at the Category 6 Waterpark on Icon of the Seas.

At 46 feet tall, the slide is famous for being the biggest drop slide at sea and its trap door launch.

While on the slide, an acrylic glass panel broke off, creating a gaping hole. Although he did not fall through, other guests reported seeing "skin laceration injuries from his legs to his hands."

According to Alex Perez of Lipcon, Margulies & Winkleman, P.A., the passenger plans to sue the cruise company for compensation.

"Our firm has decades of experience handling cruise passenger injury cases, and unfortunately, incidents involving material or design failures aboard cruise ships are something we see far too often," Perez stated

"Cruise ships have a responsibility to ensure that the attractions they open and encourage passengers to use are safe. We are thankful for the trust this family has placed in us to represent them."

The water slide on Icon of the Seas was closed for nearly one month while crew members made repairs and conducted thorough inspections to ensure guest safety.
