Disney removes mattresses from its biggest new cruise ship

Disney Adventure Mattress Complaints

Disney's newest and biggest cruise ship has officially hit the high seas. The highly-anticipated Disney Adventure embarked on its maiden voyage from Singapore on March 10, 2026. In the days that have followed, however, the ship has received a fair amount of criticism from passengers.

While the ship's overall theming and dining have been highlights, the cabins have drawn numerous complaints, with some guests taking to social media to express their frustrations.

"Here’s what the room looks like when all 4 beds are down for the evening. Very little floor space. I can’t imagine having 4 people in here," Theme Park Express, an X user, posted.

According to an earlier post, he knew that the stateroom he chose for the inaugural voyage was controversial. After all, it is the cheapest cabin on the massive cruise ship.

During the day, the top two pullman beds are kept up to reveal magical artwork, while the lower beds are arranged like traditional couches.

The Disney Adventure cabin layout looks more like a train car than a cruise room, with just enough space for passengers to move around.

Disney's website claims that the standard Inside Staterooms aboard the Adventure measure "up to 165 square feet" and can sleep up to four guests.

The Deluxe Inside Staterooms are larger, coming in at approximately 209 square feet. Finally, the Deluxe Inside Stateroom with Reef View is also around 209 square feet but has a small picture window overlooking the Discovery Reef zone.

Lack of space isn't the biggest issue. According to Theme Park Express, Disney didn’t add mattresses to the lower beds during the nighttime turndown service.

"I DONT EVEN HAVE A DAMN MATTRESS!! They just put a cover and a thin pad on the couch cushion!" he shared in a follow-up X post.

Not only is this thin and uncomfortable, but it also raises hygiene concerns over time. At night, the sheets sit directly on the couch cushions, which are exposed during the daytime.

Although Disney Adventure is marketed toward a different clientele than its other ships, passengers still board with high expectations. It is a Disney cruise ship, after all — not Carnival!

Disney cruises are associated with immersive dining experiences, character interactions, Broadway-caliber shows, and luxury accommodations.

And while the Disney Adventure ship appears to be delivering the same magic in its public areas, its staterooms remain a point of contention — especially when a 3-night voyage starts at $550 per person.

"I've been watching videos of the Disney Adventure and while lots of things look really cool I am surprised that the rooms seem more plain," wrote one Redditor

"They do look very plain. I personally prefer the classic styling of the Wonder and Magic," someone else added.

Another cruiser chimed in, writing, "I’ve heard that when Disney bought the ship, they made many changes to the public spaces already built but basically (aside from splitting the bathroom) made no changes to the staterooms. Hence the room layout is very much different than any other Disney ship."

The biggest Disney cruise ship is Disney Adventure, measuring roughly 208,000 gross tons and 1,122 feet long. She can accommodate around 6,700 passengers.

In comparison, Disney Treasure comes in at 144,000 gross tons, 1,119 feet in length, and has a passenger capacity of 4,000.

Disney Adventure's maiden voyage began on March 10, 2026. Designed specifically for the Asian market, the massive ship is more of a floating theme park than a traditional cruise.

Unlike standard cruises that focus on balancing visits to multiple ports of call with a memorable onboard experience, Disney Adventure's only focus is the onboard experience.

As such, passengers can experience the immersive storytelling, amenities, and more while at sea for 3 or 4 consecutive days on a round-trip voyage from Singapore.

The ship is unlike any other vessel in the fleet, with unique experiences ranging from the 820-foot Ironcycle Test Run roller coaster to The Lion King fireworks show, Big Hero 6-themed San Fransokyo Street area, Monsters, Inc. family-friendly hibachi restaurant, and more.

There are four main categories of staterooms on the Disney Adventure: Inside, Oceanview, Verandah, and Concierge Suites/Staterooms.

Each of these categories is divided into subcategories, which give guests a wider range of options depending on their budget, desired location, and more.

For example, there are multiple different types of Verandah cruise rooms that vary in size and view, with some overlooking interior areas of the ship.

Similarly, there are more than 8 distinct subcategories of Concierge cabins on the Disney Adventure. The most affordable is the Concierge Inside Family Stateroom, while some, such as the Concierge Royal Suite, can cost over $10,000 per person on a 3-night sailing.
