Celebrity Cruises will give you extra loyalty points if you skip housekeeping

One cruise line is looking to incentivize passengers to save on laundry services by giving them extra loyalty points if they reduce the amount of housekeeping services onboard.

Celebrity Cruises is offering guests the option to receive reduced housekeeping services while onboard in exchange for points in the Captain’s Club.

Celebrity calls it the Go Green program, where guests can opt-in to this program will receive an extra night’s worth of Club Points based on their stateroom category.

The goal of the program is to reduce the ship's environmental footprint by:

  • Reducing water consumption
  • Reducing energy consumption
  • Reducing chemicals consumption

Current Housekeeping service consists of twice full daily cleaning and sanitization services; morning and evening.

The Go Green program provides a full daily cleaning and sanitation service. The night touch service will provide a turndown of down of the bed, adjustment to room ambience, removal of garbage, and organization of guest items --making the stateroom and the bathroom neat with a personalized touch. With Go Green, the guest will specify a preferred time for their housekeeping services.

Go Green Bonus Points will be equal to one extra night of points based on the member’s stateroom category for the participating voyage. Reduced rate upgrades, including those won as part of the Move Up program, will earn Go Green Bonus Points at the original stateroom category booked (not the upgraded level).

If a stateroom opts-out of the Go Green program before the end of the voyage, members in that stateroom will not receive the Go Green Bonus Points. Go Green Bonus points will be awarded within 10 business day post cruise.

To participate, members can opt-in online pre-cruise at or onboard during embarkation day.
