Celebrity Cruises has officially taken delivery of its brand new cruise ship, Celebrity Beyond, which is the the third and most luxurious ship in the fleet’s new-luxury Edge Series. With an ultra-sleek design, Celebrity Beyond is innovative and transformative for the travel industry, offering a luxurious cruise experience that's both effortless and meaningful.
President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, honored the many engineers, designers, architects and shipyard employees by accepting delivery of the cruise line’s most luxurious cruise ship to date at a celebratory ceremony in Saint-Nazaire, France.
Lutoff-Perlo said Celebrity Cruises was thrilled to officially welcome Beyond to its fleet. She exclaimed, “With its innovative offerings that reach far beyond expectations from some of today’s most talented designers, artists and creative minds, we believe that Beyond speaks to the growing trend of people seeking new luxury experiences that are personalized, effortless and meaningful. We are seeing a continued desire to travel as business steadily increases, and we see Beyond leading the cruise industry into the next era of luxury. We are more than ready to welcome our guests onboard and show them just how incredible this ship is!”
Lutoff-Perlo was also joined by Royal Caribbean Group CEO Jason liberty and the ship’s captain, Kate McCue, as the cruise line officially took ownership of Celebrity Beyond in France.
Celebrity Beyond was docked in the Chantiers del’Atlantique shipyard during the momentous occasion. The delivery of Celebrity Beyond was particularly special because it was the shipyard’s first physical delivery ceremony since the start of the pandemic.
With plenty of pomp and circumstance, the brand new Celebrity Beyond was delivered and welcomed by the cruise line with the traditional changing of the flags. Onboard the vessel, excitement filled the air as a new innovative chapter began for Celebrity Cruises.
Others in attendance for the festivities included other Celebrity Cruise executives, shipyard officials, and Beyond’s 1,400 crew members.
General Manager of Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Laurent Castaing, shipyard praised employees for working tirelessly to construct the new ship. She said, “Celebrity Beyond is a true new ship. We have worked hard, in a spirit of strong collaboration and even during the pandemic, to achieve this result. Celebrity Beyond is one of the exceptional ships that will be remembered.”
Making the moment even more historic, Celebrity Beyond’s captain, Kate McCue, is America’s first female cruise ship captain.
Captain Kate McCue will bring Celebrity Beyond on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England on April 27, 2022 for a 10-night sailing to Spain, Portugal and France.
Following her maiden voyage, Celebrity Beyond will offer a variety of sailings through October to stunning destinations in the Mediterranean including the Italian Riviera, French Riviera and the Greek Isles. Following her inaugural season, Celebrity Beyond will head to the Caribbean to bring its effortlessly luxurious cruising experience to North America.

The world’s leading architects thoughtfully designed Celebrity Beyond entirely in 3-D. Innovation is truly at the heart of Celebrity Cruises’ forward-thinking design. The Celebrity Beyond features a sleeker exterior profile while still fitting 179 more suites than other cruise ships in the Edge Class.
Sitting at 140,600 gross tonnage, Celebrity Beyond can hold 3,260 guests when sailing at capacity. She features 1,646 staterooms and will be home to crew from over 60 different countries worldwide.
Celebrity Beyond will also feature the biggest selection of staterooms for the cruise line and have more suites than any ship in its fleet. The incredible Edge Villa includes 2-stories of luxury accommodations for guests looking to splurge on their next cruise experience. Suite guests can exclusively enjoy The Retreat, a multilevel sundeck with plenty of space for relaxation.
Celebrity Beyond has been designed with more outdoor space as well, offering 40% more open-air spaces than the main decks on other cruise ships in the Edge Class. The Rooftop Garden and Grand Plaza, both iconic features of Edge Class ships, have also been redesigned. Cruisers can also enjoy a drink on Celebrity Beyond’s newest 2-story bar called the Sunset Bar.
Perhaps the most innovative feature of the Celebrity Beyond is the Magic Carpet, the world’s first cantilevered, floating platform. The Magic Carpet lifts guests 13 stories above sea level and features a full bar with live music, along with stunning views of the open sea.
