Liberty of the Seas is stuck in Spain to avoid inclement weather, delaying her arrival in Southampton, England, on Sunday, June 7.
Consequently, passengers on the subsequent 5-night cruise to Germany and Belgium have been notified that their embarkation process will be delayed by three hours, as reported by Royal Caribbean Blog.
"We are closely monitoring adverse weather along our route back to Southampton, England for our current sailing. With safety in mind, the ship is expected to be delayed in returning to the port by approximately six (6) hours and the terminal will be closed for embarkation until 2:30 PM," reads the email sent to impacted passengers.
According to the correspondence, the earliest arrival time is now 2:30 p.m., having been pushed back from 11:30 a.m., while the latest arrivals must check in no later than 6:00 p.m.
It also states that guests who arrive at the cruise terminal earlier than their adjusted arrival times will be turned away.
"We're sorry for any inconvenience caused by this change... We look forward to welcoming you onboard Liberty of the Seas soon!" the notice concludes.
Liberty of the Seas will allegedly remain docked in Spain for over six hours longer than planned
One Facebook post claims that Liberty of the Seas won't leave her current port in Vigo, Spain, until 11:00 p.m. on June 5. However, the ship was initially supposed to depart by 4:30 p.m. for an on-time arrival in England at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 7.
"Late departure tonight from Vigo at 23.00 so now 11.00 arrival in Southampton sunday now, due to storm avoidance," explains Michael Mccalla.
Vigo is the last port on the ship's seven-night itinerary, which departed England on May 31. Other stops included Lisbon, Portugal, and Bilbao, Spain.
Poor weather conditions in Spain aren't preventing Liberty from making her way back toward Southampton. Rather, it's inclement conditions throughout the English Channel.
According to Buoyweather, wind gusts could reach as high as 37 knots. The forecast also calls for ocean swells exceeding 20 feet.
As such, the deteriorating conditions throughout the English Channel have forced Liberty's crew to remain put, and as of 3:25 p.m. EST, CruiseMapper reveals that Liberty has yet to leave Vigo.
