First cruise ship to sail from the U.S. will be Celebrity Edge

The first cruise ship to sail from the United States with paying passengers will be from Celebrity Cruises.

Celebrity announced it has received approval from the Centers for Disease Control to sail again in June.

The Celebrity Edge will begin cruises from Fort Lauderdale on June 26, and is able to skip test cruises because at least 95% of its passengers and 98% of its crew are fully vaccinated.

Norwegian announces restart plans from the US for 8 cruise ships

Norwegian Cruise Line is ready to bring back a number of its cruise ships to the United States this fall.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) announced plans for restart across its three brands, including ships sailing from the U.S.

Norwegian Cruise Line announced plans for eight additional ships to relaunch beginning Fall 2021. Oceania Cruises will resume cruise operations with three additional ships, Riviera, Insignia, and Sirena, between October 2021 and January 2022. Regent Seven Seas Cruises will see all five ships back exploring the oceans by February 2022. 

CDC approves first Royal Caribbean cruise ship to start test cruises with volunteer passengers

Royal Caribbean announced on Tuesday it has received permission from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to conduct test cruises with volunteer passengers.

The lucky ship is Freedom of the Seas, which can begin her test cruises on June 20, 2021.

Cruises to Alaska look to be the first sailings to start from the U.S.

In an unexpected reversal of fortune, Alaska has gone from the destination least likely to host cruise ships in 2021 to the first destination to welcome cruise ships from U.S. ports.

Royal Caribbean asks CDC to begin test cruises

Royal Caribbean has submitted a proposal so that it can begin an official test cruise from the United States.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requires all cruise lines to conduct test cruises in order to gain approval to sail from the United States, although test cruises can be skipped if a ship opts to require 95% of its passengers and 98% of its crew members to be fully vaccinated.

Royal Caribbean International CEO Michael Bayley confirmed his cruise line has submitted an application to start test cruises.

Carnival will restart cruises in Alaska in 2021

Count Carnival in for Alaska cruises this year.

Carnival Corporation announced three of its brands will sail to Alaska in 2021: Holland America, Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line.

The sailings will go out of Seattle.

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises announce 2021 Alaska cruises

Cruise ships are headed back to Alaska.

Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises both announced ships that will sail to Alaska in summer 2021.

The news comes right after legislation was passed in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate to allow cruise ships to sail to Alaska without having to stop in Canada.
