An unlucky cruiser thought he hit the jackpot after winning a free cruise only to receive an unexpected $47,000 medical bill. 

Mike Cameron and his girlfriend, Tamra Masterman, of Braham, Minn., set sail on a free Norwegian cruise that departed out of Miami, Florida, on January 5, FOX 9 reported. 

The passenger who jumped overboard while cruising on Norwegian Epic over Christmas has been identified. 

Dan McGilvray, 51, of Broomfield, Colorado, vanished after climbing over a balcony and leaping off the ship, bouncing off a lifeboat as he plummeted toward the sea. 

A Christmas cruise for one family ended in tragedy this week when a 51-year-old passenger went overboard while sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line.

While the ship was sailing from Jamaica to the Bahamas on a 7-night itinerary, the man plummeted to the sea. The victim - who went overboard around 3:00pm on December 26, 2024 - was traveling with a large group onboard Norwegian Epic, according to the cruise line.

The changes affect passengers sailing with Norwegian, MSC, and Carnival, with some cruisers likely to pay an additional $80 or more for drink packages on a 7-night cruise in 2025.

Norwegian Cruise Line was founded in 1966. Their first ship, Sunward, operated as a ferry between Southampton and Gibraltar and was a mere 8,666 tons. It was not until 1971 that they started operating cruise ships that could not carry vehicles.
