What are the best Alaska cruise ports?

First-time cruisers to Alaska want to see glaciers and eagles and salmon and bears – but they don’t always know which port is best for the activities they want to do.

Not all weeklong Alaska cruise itineraries feature the same ports, so you need to know which destinations should be tops on your list. You don’t want to travel all that way to find out that your ship stops in Sitka, when your dream excursion departs from Icy Strait Point.

Bahamas outlines plan for cruise ships and tourists to return

The Bahamas Minister of Tourism released a new phased plan for how tourism will return following the global health crisis.

Minister of Tourism & Aviation Dionisio D'Aguilar presented his plan to the public on Monday that involves four phases, with cruise ship return part of the final phase.

Phase 3 of the Tourism Readiness & Recovery Plan will begin on October 15, which includes the reopening of beaches and major hotels.  

Key West to vote on proposal to ban big cruise ships

Some Key West residents are proposing the city restrict, if not ban, big cruise ships from stopping at the island.

Florida Key News reports the PAC "Key West Committee for Cleaner, Safer Ships" has outlined three goals it hopes to pass as law in Key West:

Seattle cancels first two cruise ship calls of spring season due to coronavirus worries

The Port of Seattle announced it has cancelled the first two cruise ship calls of the Alaska cruise season due to concern over the spread of coronavirus.

The April 1 and April 5 visits were one-day  “port of call” sailings, which means that the vessel makes a one-day stop in Seattle on its way to a different destination. Most cruise ships begin and end their sailings from Seattle.

St. Kitts reaches one million cruise passengers and expects more growth

St Kitts and Nevis announced one million cruise passengers have visited already this year, and greater growth is coming soon.

This  is the second year in a row that the Caribbean country has reached the one million passenger milestone. 

This is expected to grow even further upon the completion of the second pier at Port Zante, whose construction is funded by St Kitts and Nevis' Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme.

Port of Halifax will continue to draw bigger ships in a longer cruise season

Halifax, Nova Scotia is experiencing significant growth in the cruise industry, with one of the longest cruise seasons ever for the city.

The Port of Halifax will kick off the 2019 cruise season on April 8 with the arrival of Marina, an Oceania Cruises vessel. The cruise season will run until the first week of November, making it one of the longest seasons for the Port of Halifax with the highest number of expected cruise guests.
