Celebrity Cruises orders fifth Edge-Class ship

Parent Company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. announced it as ordered a fifth Edge-Class cruise ship to be delivered in fall 2024.

French shipbuilder Chantiers de l'Atlantique entered into an agreement with the cruise line for the new order.

"Edge class made an immediate hit with Celebrity Cruises guests and is a state-of-the-art example of technical excellence and elegant design," said Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.  "We can't wait to build the next one."

Royal Caribbean takes delivery of Spectrum of the Seas

Spectrum of the Seas, Royal Caribbean's first Quantum Ultra class ship, was delivered to Royal Caribbean International in Bremerhaven.

The first cruise ship of the Quantrum-Ultra class has a rating of 169,000 GRT; it measures 347.1 m in length and 41.4 m in width, with capacity for 4,246 passengers.

Royal Caribbean temporarily shuts down trampoline attraction on its ships

Royal Caribbean has temporarily closed down its SkyPad feature to all guests on Independence of the Seas and Mariner of the Seas in an effort to review and inspect the ride.

The SkyPad is a fusion trampoline jump mixed with virtual reality headsets.

Royal Caribbean confirmed the SkyPad is shutdown via Twitter, "The SkyPad is temporarily unavailable. We're currently conducting a review as the safety as part of our commitment to safety for all of our guests. I'm very sorry for any disappointment this has caused."

Holland America's next new ship will be named Ryndam

Holland America Line announced today that its next new cruise ship will be named Ryndam.  Ryndam will be the next Pinnacle Class ship, and be delivered in May 2021.

Ryndam will join sister ships Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam.  She will be 99,500 tons and accomnodate 2,666 guests.

A steel cutting ceremony was held on March 13 at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Italy.

Princess Cruises offering celebrity speaker series for west coast cruises

Princess Cruises' Royal Princess will be sailing from the West Coast and offers guests the  opportunity to hear from an impressive line-up of celebrity speakers as they sail to the sunny Mexican Riviera.

Now through April 27, 2019, Royal Princess departs on seven-day cruises to the Mexican Riviera from the Port of Los Angeles (San Pedro, Calif.) before heading up for a new Alaska season in early May. 

Take a Virtual Tour of the New Carnival Panorama

Carnival Cruise Lines has released a virtual tour of its first new ship on the West Coast in 20 years - Carnival Panorama.

The four-minute video tour is hosted by the ship’s cruise director Emma Nixon who takes viewers on a virtual journey throughout the vessel, from the aerial attraction SkyRide and the Choose Fun-themed WaterWorks aqua park to the first-ever Sky Zone trampoline park at sea.

Princess Cruises new world cruise sets one day sales record for the cruise line

Princess Cruises announced that its recently announced cruise around the world has become the fastest-selling World Cruise in the cruise line's history. 

The 111-day roundtrip voyage on Island Princess from Ft. Lauderdale departs on January 3, 2021, and the 111-day roundtrip cruise from Los Angeles departs January 17, 2021. A 97-day World Cruise from Los Angeles to Ft. Lauderdale is also offered, setting sail on January 17, 2021.
