Canada will not permit cruise ships to dock at their ports until July 1

The Canadian government announced due to the spread of Coronavirus, cruise ships will not be permitted to dock at Canadian ports from April 2 to July 1.

The new policy applies to ships carrying at least 500 people, including passengers and crew.

Many cruise ships sailing to Alaska visit the port of Victoria, as well as ships homeporting from Vancouver.

Carnival Cruise Line prohibits anyone 70 or older and those with medical issues not to cruise due to Coronavirus

Carnival Cruise Line has added a new rule for guests that prohibit anyone 70 years old or older, as well as those with chronic medical conditions, from going on a cruise out of concern that Coronavirus could affect them substantially more.

Carnival consulted with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to craft this new policy, and it prohibits:

Maryland Governor closes Port of Baltimore due to Coronavirus

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced it has closed Baltimore’s cruise ship terminal due to the spread of the coronavirus.

The cruise terminal will remain closed, "until further notice."

Cruise ships scheduled to return to Baltimore on active sailings will be permitted to return. Provided guests onboard do not have any confirmed cases of coronavirus and/or symptoms, they will be allowed to disembark.

Two ships will return to the port, Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas and Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Pride.

Disney Cruise Line will shut down through the end of March due to Coronavirus pandemic

Disney has announced due to the spread of Coronavirus, Disney Cruise Line will halt all sailings beginning on Saturday, March 14, through the end of the month.

The announcement was made at the same time Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris also announced their closures for about the same period of time.

Spain closes ports to cruise ships for two weeks to avoid spread of Coronavirus

Spain's Council of Ministers announced that in an effort to avoid Coronavirus, cruise ships from any origin will not be permitted to visit Spanish ports between March 13 and 26.

Spain hopes this move will prevent Coronavirus from spreading more quickly, especially given the given how much it has spread in nearby Italy.

The ban is temporary, and could be extended for additional periods not exceeding 14 days and evaluated periodically, particularly taking into account the evolution of the pandemic, especially in Italy.

MSC Cruises cancels March & April Persian Gulf cruises due to Coronavirus closing ports

MSC Cruises announced it has cancelled its March and April sailings in the Persian Gulf due to ports in the United Arab Emirates closing cruise ports due to Coronavirus fears.

The change affects two MSC Cruise ships, MSC Bellissima and MSC Lirica starting from March 14, including the Grand Voyages of MSC Bellissima on March 21 and that of MSC Lirica on April 18.

Virgin Voyages announced it will delay its inaugural season until July 15, 2020, with the Scarlet Lady's maiden voyage pushed back to August 7, 2020.

Coronavirus forces Princess Cruises to announce 60 day halt of all cruises

Princess Cruises announced it will institute a 60 day "voluntary and temporary" pause of its cruises due to the global spread of Coronavirus.

The change impacts all sailings departing March 12 to May 10.

Those currently onboard a cruise that will end in the next five days will continue to sail as expected through the end of the itinerary so that onward travel arrangements are not disrupted. 

Current voyages that are underway and extend beyond March 17 will be ended at the most convenient location for guests, factoring in operational requirements. 

Viking Cruises temporarily suspends operations due to Coronavirus

Viking Cruises announced due to the coronavirus COVID-19 situation, it will temporarily suspend river and ocean cruise operations operations until May 1, 2020.

The cruise line will temporarily suspend river and ocean vessels embarking from March 12 to April 30, 2020.

Viking Chairman Torstein Hagen issued a letter to currently booked guests.
