Disney Cruise Line offers a lot for family to enjoy on their ships, including the shows, kids clubs, classes and slides.

Here's a look at our favorite free things to do on Disney Cruise ships.

1. Hanging out with Disney characters

Mickey and Minnie at Castaway Cay

Without a doubt, the thing Disney Cruise Line is best known for are the wide array of Disney characters you can meet. Sometimes, you are even welcomed by a character in the terminal before boarding!

Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and other classic characters are joined by princesses, Marvel super heroes and Star Wars characters!

You can even find characters in their best tropical attire while on their private island, Castaway Cay

Keep in mind that most characters require you to reserve tickets in order to meet some of the popular ones.

2. Jedi Training Academy

Star Wars fans ages 5-12 can learn to handle a lightsaber in the Jedi Training Academy on Star Wars Day at Sea cruises.

Held on select sailings, it's an opportunity to meet Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and other intergalactic heroes. If meeting them isn't enough, the young Jedi can opt to duel Darth Vader or Darth Maul!

Be sure to sign up for this in advance, as this is sure to book up fast.

3. See new Disney films

Disney offers its guests the opportunity to see the latest Disney feature films on their ships, and it is included with the cost of your cruise!

From the animated films to the Marvel films to everything in between, this is a great way to see the newest Disney films while at sea.

Be sure to grab some delicious (included) popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the show!

4. Craft classes

No matter your age, Disney offers step-by-step classes to learn to draw or build fun masks in less than 20 minutes.

Each cruise, these hands-on classes are offered and at the Animator's Palate, you can watch your drawings come to life on the walls of the venue.

5. Broadway style shows

If there is one thing Disney does the best, it has to be their theatrical shows onboard. Shows vary from ship to ship, so you might be inclined to sail the entire fleet! Here are the shows you can find on each ship:

  • Disney Dream: Beauty and the Beast
  • Disney Fantasy: Aladdin
  • Disney Wonder: Frozen
  • Disney Magic: Tangled
  • Disney Wish: The Little Mermaid

6. Slides

Something that sets Disney Cruise Line apart from other mainstream cruise lines are there incredible water slides (or coasters). Because these attractions are so popular (and included), the lines can get long! We recommend going while others are in port to enjoy it with minimal time spend waiting in line.

Not all Disney Cruise Line slides are the same. You'll find the AquaDunk on the Disney Magic, AquaDuck on the Disney Dream and Fantasy, and AquaMouse on the Disney Wish.
