Carnival Cruise Line quietly adds a non-smoking casino to one of its ships

Carnival Conquest returns to service in Miami

Carnival Cruise Line made a few subtle but important updates to one of its ships' casinos during a recent dry dock.

Carnival Conquest returned to service on February 20 after a 12-day dry dock in The Bahamas. Although the dry dock was short, the routine maintenance period was used to refresh several public areas, including enhancements to the ship’s casino layout and gaming offerings.

According to the cruise line, the casino on Deck 5 now features a redesigned layout that improves guest flow and accessibility, along with a dedicated non-smoking area.

Non-smoking casinos have become increasingly popular across the cruise industry. In fact, many Carnival ships, including Carnival Jubilee, Carnival Panorama, Carnival Magic, Carnival Venezia, Carnival Celebration, and Carnival Breeze, already have non-smoking areas.

Although the dedicated non-smoking areas aren't as large as the main casino, they provide guests who do not want to be engulfed in a smoking environment a space to play a variety of slot machines and table games.

And the addition aboard Carnival Conquest reflects the line’s continued effort to respond to guest feedback, with many preferring the smoke-free casino.

Royal Caribbean is also prioritizing non-smoking casinos

Starting in 2023, Royal Caribbean began adding non-smoking casinos to its ships. Wonder of the Seas was the first vessel to kickstart the trend, with the popular jazz club being transformed into a smoke-free casino.

Freedom of the Seas quickly followed suit. The non-smoking casino on the 156,271-gross-ton Freedom Class ship took the place of the Vintages wine bar in the Royal Promenade.

Since then, at least five other ships have received non-smoking casinos, including the brand-new Icon Class ships. Most recently, Radiance of the Seas' pub was replaced with a smoke-free casino

Heroes Bar & Lounge on Carnival Conquest

In addition to the casino enhancements, Carnival Conquest received the popular Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge during her nearly two-week-long dry dock.

The Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge first debuted on Carnival Panorama in 2019 and has since been added to many ships in the fleet. The special bar honors military veterans and active-duty service members. You can even purchase a souvenir glass and Heroes American Pale Ale to help raise funds for Operation Homefront, a nonprofit organization that supports military families.

Moving on, Carnival Conquest's teen and family areas were upgraded. Club O2, a dedicated teen-only lounge, was added with fun gaming areas. The Warehouse video arcade was renovated, too. Now, the extra-cost arcade has even more interactive play experiences. Finally, retail spaces, including Effy, Pandora, and Swarovski, were refreshed.
