Cruise ship passenger arrested for touching, exposing himself to teens, police confirm

A Florida man was arrested on March 22 after allegedly touching and exposing himself in front of minors on a Celebrity cruise ship, according to an arrest affidavit from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. 

Michael "Mike" Henry Mullis, 39, of Lutz, Florida, faces two counts of indecent exposure on the Celebrity Eclipse cruise ship. Two passengers, ages 17 and 16, told investigators that Mullis exposed himself and started masturbating on the top bench of the sauna, NBC6 reported. 

The sauna is located inside Celebrity's Persian Garden thermal suite. The relaxation lounge has heated tile loungers, an herbal steam room, tropical rain showers, and a traditional sauna.

Carnival cancels all 2026 Alaska cruise visits to popular glacier

Carnival canceled all visits to a popular fjord for the entirety of the 2026 Alaska cruise season. 

The cruise line notified passengers via email that all visits to the Tracy Arm Fjord have been removed from the 2026 lineup due to unsuitable "geological conditions." 

"We have been closely monitoring geological conditions in Tracy Arm Fjord. The waterways in the area are currently not suitable for cruise ship navigation," the email reads.

Multiple Cruise Ships Remain Stuck in the Arabian Gulf

Now entering its fourth week, the war in Iran continues to send shockwaves through the travel industry, with widespread flight disruptions and canceled cruises across the Middle East and Arabian Gulf region. 

Not only that, but multiple cruise ships remain stuck in the Gulf, as the Strait of Hormuz is closed to international maritime traffic. Consequently, the vessels cannot leave the area or reposition to other ports.

Woman sues Carnival Cruise Line after slipping and falling on dining room floor

A passenger injured while sailing on the Carnival Glory cruise ship filed a maritime personal injury lawsuit seeking damages for extensive medical expenses and loss of cruise experience. 

Angely Hope Roper, 80, of Georgia, was a fare-paying guest vacationing aboard Carnival Glory when she slipped and fell in the ship's main dining room in May 2025, as reported by Holzberg Legal

The incident happened in the Platinum Dining Room on Deck 4, with Roper alleging that she slipped on a concealed puddle of water as she walked from the carpeted area to the linoleum floor.

Members of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) were called to help rescue a sick passenger on the Carnival Jubilee cruise ship on Friday, March 20. 

"[Helicopter medical evacuations are]... a very complicated safety procedure that can only be executed under [a] certain set of conditions. Weather, wind, waves, distance from shore, and stability of the patient, there [are] a lot of conditions that need to align," explained Kyndall Fire, Cruise Director aboard Carnival Jubilee.

The medical evacuation happened on the final day of the weeklong voyage as the ship sailed back toward the Lone Star State.

Crew member arrested and deported after caught shoplifting in Florida, authorities confirm

A cruise ship crew member was arrested and deported after being caught shoplifting in Port Canaveral, Florida, authorities confirmed. 

"CBP Port Canaveral was contacted by Brevard County Sheriff's Office, Florida (Official) Deputies regarding a detainer placed on crewmember [who] was caught shoplifting during shore leave," the official Miami and Tampa Field Office Facebook page said on March 24. 

"U.S. Customs and Border Protection issued a detainer to retrieve custody after [the Brevard County Sheriff's Office] was finished with the subject."

In 2024, more than 1.5 million cruise passengers sailed through the Port of Galveston. Although it isn't the world's busiest cruise port, it continues to see steady growth in passenger traffic and will even welcome a mega Icon Class ship in 2027. 

However, unlike Miami or Fort Lauderdale, the closest airport isn't a few minutes down the road. Consequently, those who are flying to Texas to cruise out of Galveston must plan for a longer transfer.
