Cruise line stocks are up as much as 20% in pre-market trading on Monday thanks to positive data from Coronavirus vaccine trials.

Both Pfizer and BioNTech's vaccine trials showed to be more than 90% effective seven days after the second dose in preventing infection in participants with no evidence of prior SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Before Royal Caribbean can offer cruises again, it will need volunteers to test out cruises to ensure they are safe.

Royal Caribbean's Senior Vice President, Sales, Trade Support and Service, Vicki Freed, told travel agents during a webinar that volunteers will be needed to test cruise ships in order to satisfy the new health protocols.

Carnival Corporation joined the parade of cruise lines announcing their December 2020 cruises are cancelled.

Carnival announced its North American cruise line brands will extend their existing pause in operations, suspending cruise voyages between Dec. 1 and Dec. 31, 2020.

After seven and a half months at a complete standstill, United States-based cruises were given the tentative go-ahead to restart when the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention allowed its no-sail order to expire on October 31.
