Carnival Cruise Line tests new cruise ship roller coaster

Carnival Cruise Line has released a new video of a test of its new roller coaster concept that will be added to a cruise ship soon.

Known as the BOLT, the new roller coaster will debut on the Carnival Mardi Gras in February.

The test was conducted at the roller coaster manufacturer in Munich, Germany. Mauer Rides tested out the new roller coaster, which will offer guests almost 800 feet of suspended track at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour.

Holland America cancels cruises until mid-December due to Coronavirus

Holland America Line announced on Tuesday that it will extend its suspension of cruises until mid-December due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

All HAL cruises sailing to the Caribbean, Mexico, Panama Canal, Pacific Coastal, South America, Antarctica, Hawaii, South Pacific, Australia and Asia are cancelled through December 15, 2020.

Guests on affected cancelled bookings have the choice of a 125% Future Cruise Credit or a 100% refund.

Norwegian Cruise Line reports wider-than-expected second quarter loss

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. reported its second quarter earnings with a net loss was $715.2 million, or $2.99 a share, after net income of $240.2 million, or $1.11 a share, in the year-ago period.

Revenue decreased to $16.9 million from $1.66 billion, as passenger ticket revenue declined 98.8% to $13.8 million and onboard and other revenue sank 99.4% to $3.1 million.

Cruise lines cancel sailings until November 1

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) announced on Monday its member cruise lines will all cancel cruises from the United States through October 31, 2020 due to COVID-19.

Cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line and more, will voluntarily extend their suspension of sailings.

The announcement impacts cruises from the United States, although individual cruise lines have already opted to cancel cruises from other regions, such as Royal Caribbean choosing to also cancel its entire European cruise season for 2020.

First Alaska cruise returns early after passenger tests positive for COVID-19

UnCruise Adventures attempted to start cruises again with a sailing in Alaska, but had to cut the cruise short after a passenger tested positive for COVID-19.

UnCruise posted an update that a guest on the Wilderness Adventurer received a positive COVID-19 test result from the State of Alaska. This was the guest’s second test following a negative test result.

The guest came to Alaska with a positive test, then took another test upon arrival in Alaska and that came back positive.
