All about Disney Cruise Line's newest cruise ships

In June 2022, Disney Cruise Line added the first new ship to their fleet since the Disney Fantasy in 2012. Dubbed the Disney Wish, it's the first of three ships in Disney's new Triton Class.

At the D23 Expo in September 2022, Disney Cruise Line announced the name of one of the two additional ships on order: Disney Treasure. The Disney Treasure is expected to enter service in 2024, with its unnamed sister following in 2025.

Florida Senators propose Set Sail Safely Act to get cruise ships sailing

U.S. Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott have proposed the creation of the Set Sail Safely Act to expedite cruises resuming from the United States.

Both Senators are from Florida, and if their bill passes, would create the Maritime Task Force, in coordination with a Private Sector Advisory Committee, to address the health, safety, security, and logistical changes needed to allow for cruise lines and ports to resume operations.

Update, 5/1/2021: On October 31, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention allowed its no-sail order to expire and issued a conditional sailing framework, to which all ships must adhere in order to resume cruising. Since that time, Norwegian Cruise Line has pushed back its restart date through July 31, 2021, with select ships' voyages canceled into November.

Carnival Sells Fascination and Imagination, Cancels Sailings on 4 More Cruise Ships Into 2021

Carnival Cruise Line has confirmed it will sell Carnival Fascination and Carnival Imagination, both of which have been in long-term layup during the ongoing suspension of North American cruising.

Disney Cruise Line cancels cruises through early December 2020

Disney Cruise Line announced on Tuesday that it has cancelled cruises in late November and early December 2020.

Sailings are cancelled on board the Disney Fantasy through December 6; the Disney Dream and Disney Wonder through December 11; and the Disney Magic through December 12.

In a communication to guests on affected sailings, the cruise line said the decision was based on a need to continue working on new health protocols, as well as ambiguity from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on if there could be an extension of the No Sail order.

Carnival will sell five more cruise ships

Carnival Corporation announced on Tuesday it will sell off an additional five cruise ships.

The ships to be sold are in addition to the 13 ships the company previously announced.

In a new business update for shareholders, Carnival Corporation made the announcement that it would sell the ships that were already planned to be sold in the future.

Royal Caribbean adds 36 foot high name to side of its newest cruise ship

Royal Caribbean is going big with the name of its next new cruise ship, Odyssey of the Seas.

All Royal Caribbean ships have their name emblazoned on the side of the bow, but Odyssey of the Seas' name is really big.

Measuring 11.2 meters (36 feet) high, new photos of Odyssey of the Seas show the name on the side of the ship.

MSC Cruises delays restart of Magnifica until October 19

MSC Cruises announced it has delayed the restart of the MSC Magnifica until October 19, 2020.

This is the second time Magnifica has been delayed in restarting.  She was previously scheduled to sail on September 26, after being delayed from August 29.

As a result of the delay, MSC Magnifica’s four proposed seven-night cruises from Bari, Italy between September 26 to October 24, 2020 have been cancelled.

Cruise Line CEOs Push for Industry Restart: 'We Are Confident in Our Protocols'

At a meeting of the Miami-Dade County Commissioners' Tourism and the Ports Committee Thursday, the CEOs of four major cruise companies stressed that the cruise industry is eager to resume sailings when the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's no-sail order, which has been in place since March, expires on September 30.

New Disney cruise ship delayed

The next Disney Cruise line ship looks like it will be delayed.

DisneyCruiseLineBlog shared an excerpt from Walt Disney Company Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Christine McCarthy, confirming the cruise line's next new cruise ship will not be delivered on time.
