Royal Caribbean will send Quantum of the Seas to Australia in 2021-2022

Royal Caribbean teased its upcoming Australia 2021-2022 cruise season by announcing Quantum of the Seas will sail to the region for the first time ever.

Quantum of the Seas has been based in China, but will transition to Australia when she is not offering Alaska cruises.

Joining Quantum of the Seas will be Ovation of the Seas in Sydney. In addition, Radiance of the Seas will homeport in Brisbane, Australia.

The cruise line has a variety of sailings, including 7-8 night coastal cruises, 8-12 night South Pacific cruises and 10-13 night sailings around Tasmania.

Cunard cancels all of its cruises until November

Cunard Cruises announced today it has extended its cruise suspension by cancelling all sailings until November due to coronavirus.

Cunard President Simon Palethorpe said the cruise line is canceling all sailings on the Queen Elizabeth ship departing through Nov. 23, as well as those on Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria through Nov. 1.

Royal Caribbean indefinitely postpones upcoming ship upgrades

Royal Caribbean announced on Tuesday it has postponed all of its upcoming Royal Amplifications until further notice.

Plans for upgrades and enhancements on four ships are now in limbo, as the cruise line cited the impact of COVID-19 and the closure of shipyards as forcing their hand in making this delay.

MSC Cruises announces cancellation of 2020 Canada & New England cruises

MSC Cruises announced it has cancelled its Canada and New England sailings on MSC Meraviglia from Sept. 5 - Oct. 22, 2020.

MSC joined other cruise lines in announcing the cancellation of all of its Canada/New England 2020 sailings due to Canada's announcement that due to the COVID-19 pandemic they will be prohibiting cruise ships carrying more than 100 persons from operating in Canadian water until October 31, 2020.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd announced it will offer senior guaranteed notes to be issued by the Company due 2023 for an aggregate principal amount of up to $1.0 billion and a concurrent private offering of senior convertible notes to be issued by the Company due 2023.

Princess Cruises cancels more cruises due to Canada and Australia bans

Princess Cruises announced more cruises will be cancelled on six of its cruise ships due to the expanding cruise bans from Canada and Australia.

Princess Cruises cancelled the Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 sailings that depart and return to Australia:

  • Sea Princess
  • Majestic Princess
  • Sun Princess 
  • Sapphire Princess

In addition, Princess Cruises vessels that visited Seattle or Vancouver, BC, in September or October are cancelled. This includes:

CDC to unveil cruise ship color coded guidance to determine COVID-19 threat

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control is working on a new red, yellow and green system for easily identifying cruise ships with Coronavirus.

The Miami Herald is reporting the CDC has been working on the new system for months with the cruise lines on a system to detect, prevent and mitigate the spread of the coronavirus on cruise ships.
