Carnival Cruise updates status of its cruise ship fleet

Carnival Cruise Line provided a fleet plan on Thursday that provides details on the status of its cruise ships during the current global cruise shutdown.

Carnival began the update with some good news, informing the public it will take delivery of a new unnamed Excel-class ship in November 2022.

Princess Cruises cancels almost all of its cruises in 2020 due to COVID-19

Princess Cruises announced that it has cancelled most of its remaining cruises in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All Princess Cruises sailings in Asia, Caribbean, California Coast, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama Canal, South America & Antarctica, Japan, and Tahiti/South Pacific through December 15, 2020 are now cancelled.

They also cancelled their sailings in and out of Australia on Majestic Princess, Regal Princess, Sapphire Princess, Sea Princess, and Sun Princess through October 31, 2020.

Royal Caribbean cancels cruises through September 30

Royal Caribbean announced on Friday it had cancelled its cruises through September 30 in order to be in compliance with the new "No Sail" order by the CDC.

Less than a day after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control extended its "No Sail" Order, Royal Caribbean removed cruises that would have sailed between September 16 - September 30, 2020.

The cruise line sent an email to travel agents informing them and guests of the change.

Carnival has less than 400 crew members left to repatriate on its cruise ships

Carnival Cruise Line announced on Friday thanks to the assistance of many Caribbean and Latin American countries, the cruise line has lass than 400 crew members remaining on board awaiting repatriation.

Carnival has repatriated more than 26,000 crew members across the world.

CDC continues its cruise ship ban until October

There will be no cruises from North America until at least October, thanks to an extension of a "No Sail" order by the CDC.

Fears of COVID-19 continuing to be public health threat prompted the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to extend its “no-sail” order for cruise ships operating out of U.S. ports until September 30.

The ban was set to expire on July 24, although nearly every cruise line had already extended their voluntary cruise suspensions until at least mid-September.
