MSC Cruises continues to pursue an intensive growth strategy, welcoming several new ships over the next couple of years.
From mega-ships with 6,000+ guests to those with under 500 cabins, MSC Cruises is catering to the newest and most innovative ships keeping all guests in mind.
Here is what is exciting and new with MSC's upcoming additions to the fleet.
Explora II, Explora Journeys (August 2024)
MSC Cruises' luxury line, Explora Journeys, will welcome its second ship in August 2024, which is nearly identical to Explora I. Measuring just 64,000 gross registered tons (GRT) with a passenger capacity of 922, Explora II's focus is transporting guests to enchanting destinations around the globe, rather than packing the ship full of adrenaline-rushing amenities.
That, however, doesn't mean you won't be bored en route to your next port. With 461 ocean-front suites; four heated swimming pools; dedicated youth spaces; holistic wellness and fitness centers; and 18 restaurants, bars, and lounges, Explora II ensures a balance of relaxation and indulgence.
Plus, compared to mainstream cruise lines, such as MSC Cruises, Explora Journeys offers a more inclusive fare, so guests won't have to worry about tallying up add-ons. All fares include an in-suite bottle of champagne and welcome treats, unlimited beverages, 8 culinary experiences, thermal spa access, gratuities, Wi-Fi, and more
The 8-night maiden voyage is scheduled to depart Barcelona, Spain on August 11, 2024.
MSC World America, MSC Cruises (April 2025)
MSC Cruises' World Class features some of the largest ships in the world, behind only Royal Caribbean's Oasis and Icon Class. MSC World Europa set sail in 2022, and next year, MSC Cruises plans to deploy its newest ship to North America, offering voyages to the Caribbean.
Compared to the first World Class ship, guests sailing onboard MSC World America can expect to find brand-new restaurants, and public spaces designed to cater to the North American cruising market. First, there's The Harbor, a new outdoor space on Deck 20 home to interactive water features, a High Trial course, zip line, sensory play area, and a thematic playground.
MSC World America will also have a new sports bar, which is perfect for passengers who want to enjoy a cold beer while snacking on light bar bites or playing a friendly game of darts or foosball with fellow guests. There will also be a Comedy Club, hosting dueling piano performances before transitioning into an intimate venue serving up tons of laughs.
The World Class ship is expected to officially set sail on April 12, 2025, following the naming ceremony in Miami, Florida.

MSC World Asia, MSC Cruises (2026)
MSC Cruises doesn't plan to stop building World Class ships following MSC World America's debut. The third ship, MSC World Asia, is scheduled for delivery the following year.
While the cruise line hasn't divulged any specific details about the ship, they say MSC World Asia will feature signature design touches, experiences, and features inspired by its continental namesake. Additionally, she'll be the fourth MSC ship to be powered by Liquified Natural Gas (LNG).
"We are very proud to begin construction on MSC World Asia. The third ship in the World Class series will feature cutting-edge technologies, making it one of the cleanest, most energy-efficient ships in the world. She embodies MSC Cruises’ and Chantiers de l’Atlantique’s long-term partnership and commitment toward the environment," said Laurent Castaing, General Manager, Chantiers de l’Atlantique.

Explora III, Explora IV, Explora V, & Explora VI, Explora Journeys (2026, 2027, 2027, & 2028)
As of August 2024, Explora Journeys will operate a fleet of just two ships. By 2028, however, they plan to have six in service. In September 2023, Explora Journeys held Explora III's steel-cutting ceremony. The same month, they announced an order for two new ships—Explora V and VI—that will be hydrogen-powered.
Unfortunately, little information about specific onboard amenities or future voyages besides the ships' names has been revealed. We'll continue to update this page as we learn more.
Unnamed World Class ship, MSC Cruises (2027)
In early 2020, MSC Cruises signed a contract with Chantiers de l'Atlantique for two World Class vessels. We know the first, MSC World Asia, will be delivered in 2026. The second, however, remains unnamed. We'll update this page as we learn more about MSC's fourth World Class vessel. With Europe, America, and Asia already claimed, what do you think MSC Cruises will name the ship?
