Bermuda is locking down its borders and has denied entry to three recent cruise ships that requested permission to dock.

Bernews reports the Bermuda Ministry of Tourism and Transport confirmed it denied requests by the Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Gem, and the MS Europa. The ships were intending to ‘lay up’ with crew and medical staff only, and to date neither cruise line has had any incidents of coronavirus associated with its fleet.

The Trump Administration is seeking a $850 billion stimulus to spur the US economy to help consumers and businesses, but cruise lines are not part of the proposal.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the package would also include payments to small businesses and loan guarantees to industries such as airlines and hotels.

While President Donald Trump mentioned the cruise lines needing help during a briefing with reporters, cruise lines were not mentioned as part of this plan.

David and Norma Trill didn't let the Coronavirus that shut down the entire cruise industry stop them from enjoying what it's like to be on a cruise.

The Canadian government announced today that it will denying entry to Canada to people who are not citizens or permanent residents. Exceptions will be made for air crews, diplomats, immediate family members of citizens and U.S. citizens.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement on Monday, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Carnival Cruise Lines announced on Monday it was taking out a $3 billion load to offset the impact of the Coronavirus has had on its business.

The cruise giant said it would cut costs, in addition to providing notice to lenders to borrow about $3 billion under facility agreement for a period of six months. Cost-cutting measures include a reduction in capital expenditures and expenses.

Carnival announced last week it would suspend cruise sailings in North America for 30 days.

The Nassau Cruise Port said its port construction project is expected to remain on schedule, despite the COVID-19 outbreak.

Nassau is  currently redeveloping the port facility to enhance the passenger experience and increase business opportunities for Bahamians.

Despite the major cruise lines announcing at least a 30 day halt to cruises because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Nassau Cruise Port will not alter the construction plans.

The Centers for Disease Control has recommended no gatherings of people for the next 8 weeks of more than 50 people.

The MS Braemer, a Fred Olsen Cruise Lines vessel, is carrying more than 600 passengers while it waits for a port to let it drop passengers off.  Every port it has tried to visit has denied the ship entry, due to the fact 40 people have tested possible for coronavirus.

The British cruise line reported so far 20 guests and 20 crew members are in isolation.

Currently, the ship is 25 miles southwest of Freeport, Bahamas, where the ship is taking supplies delivered from Freeport.

Disney Cruise Line is in the process of figuring out the next steps for its Alaska cruise season due to the recent closure of Canadian cruise ports through July 1 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Disney Cruise Line posted an update on its website indicating that the Disney Wonder's sailings are directly impacted by this change, since she was scheduled to be homeported from Vancouver beginning April 29.

In the meantime, Disney is currently evaluating various options and have not made changes to any itineraries.
