New Zealand to open borders to cruise ships in July

The New Zealand government has announced that the maritime borders of the country will reopen at the end of July on July 31, 2022.

The reopening of the maritime borders is a positive sign for the upcoming cruise season. The reopening of their maritime borders comes at an excellent time, ahead of the fall and winter cruise season that will begin in October for New Zealand.

The return of cruising to New Zealand will bring a boost to their tourism operations that they have been without for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Royal Caribbean launches TikTok search for Godmother of the largest cruise ship

Beginning today, May 6th 2022, Royal Caribbean International announced its search for the godmother of the world’s largest cruise ship, the Wonder of the Seas, has begun. TikTok users within the United States can now nominate mothers using the hashtag, #SearchForWonderMom.

Carnival Cruise Line now giving passengers up to 3 days before their cruise to get Covid-19 test

As stated on their website, on May 4th 2022, Carnival Cruise Line updated their testing requirements of COVID-19 for passengers aboard their ships.

The Carnival Cruise Line website now states, “except when destination requirements differ, guests who are up to date with their vaccines may take their test within three days prior to sailing. Up to date means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccinations, including any booster dose, when eligible.”

Norwegian Cruise Line in negotiations for $4 billion cruise ship order with Fincantieri

The Italian ship builder Fincantieri is currently in negotiations with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings for a ship order worth $4 billion in order to build new vessels for the cruise line.

Details are not yet officially confirmed, however, Italian Daily II Secolo XIX reported on Sunday May 1, 2022 that six new ships are being discussed, to be built by the shipbuilder Fincantieri for Norwegian Cruise Line.
